I'm Currently Feeling:

Unhappy

Confused.

I'm not really sure whether i should be saying this in front of all of you exstatic expectant mums, but to be honest i can't really talk to anyone else and sometimes talking to strangers is easier than talking to people who are closer to you. Im just feeling really confused right now. I know finding out you're pregnant is supposed to be a fabulously happy time but i'm just not feeling it.
I've already got two girls which i had with a man who lied, cheated and was physically & mentally abusive towards me. When we split up i brought my girls up on my own & i thought that was it, no more children, no matter what happened, whoever i met it would be me and the girls against the world. Then i met my OH - completely different in every way to my ex & he took on my girls and has been raising them as any loving dad would - however i always knew he wanted a child of his own & athough he was prepared to give up his chance of children to be with me (i didn't want anymore) i could't let him do it. I thought i'd be fine about being pregnant, and after getting a positive and then a negative the next day i was really upset at the thought of NOT being pregnant. Why is it then, that now i just feel numb. I should be excited, elated, at least happy, but i just feel empty. Don't get me wrong i could never abort this child, its not as if i DON'T want it, but i just don't feel the way i think i should. Sorry for ranting but i just needed to get it off my chest.

I think it's just hormones. You're still really early. When you see your little one on that screen, you'll feel it.

I'm so sorry to hear about your awful past. It must have been a hard thing to come through.

All i can advise is, give it time. You've said yourself that your OH is a wonderful man, completely different to your ex. Just think about what an amazing father he will be to his own child is he's so good with yours. Just think about the future, focus on the good things. Hopefully, as the pregnancy develops and you see scans etc, you might become more excited.

I really hope things work out for you. Ans remember, we're always here for you to vent.

Ditto what everyone's said. I think you will start to feel differently when it sinks in. What was OH's reaction to the news?

That's really sweet. I'm sure you'll take to the idea once it's sunk in. Especially as OH is so much more supportive and generally a nicer guy than your ex. I think, even though we're over our ex's, their behaviour can sometimes still leave some worries. Sending big

I obviously dont understand what you're going through, but i know that i felt numb to begin with and to be honnast the scan didnt to me make it feel any difference (maybe i'm totally heartless) but the thing that makes me happy wierdly enough is planning and thinking of christmas with a baby and thinking of my OH holding his baby and how happy he is going to be and what a great daddy he is going to make.

I dont know if that will help you but it helps me Also it sounds as though you've got a good guy this time

I'm still a bit numb about it. I feel like I'm telling a big lie every time someone asks me if I'm pregnant haha because I don't feel like its real. You will eventually wrap your head around it...and be happy because you are bringing a new life into the world with a man who obviously loves you and your children.
