Doctor confirmation?

Phoned NHS midwife direct today and was told need doc confirmation before they will give me the number for a sorting out a midwife. Different procedure than last month but hey, it's the NHS.

My doctor won't confirm pregnancy until I am 6 weeks though which is incredibly annoying as I want to get the antenatal care rolling. He actualy sent me away today as only 4 weeks I've done 10 tests, all positive, how much more confirmation do I need lol??!!

When did your doctor confirm BFP?

I went to the doctors the day I got my

I took my tests with me because they had told me I wasn't pregnant the week before but I so obviously was!

He looked at my 3 tests (2 Boots and 1 Clear Blue Digi) and he said Yep no doubt about it, your pregnant. And that was it. That was my confirmation. I then went to reception and booked my midwife appointment!

I phoned my doctor when I got the positive home pregnancy test. I was asked to give in a urine sample for them to confirm my pregnancy. This was just before 4 weeks xx

Hi Hun,
That is a bit strange (IMO).

With each of my babys I have just gone to the doc's at 4 weeks pregnant & told them that I was pregnant - they say "have you tested?" - I say "yes" (although this time the doc didn't even ask if I had tested?? - just said "ok, and is that a good thing??" ).

Then they say you'll hear of a midwife for your booking in appointment.

Again this time - slightly different, I had to go to the doctor's reception & ask to make an appointment with midwife, the receptionist scheduled it for next week, when I'll only be 6 weeks, which I think is sooner than my others were.

I understand you need to go via your doctor first, but to make you wait until 6 weeks gone, is very odd to me

Nobody has confirmed that I'm pregnant yet - I could be bloody making it up for all they know!
I went to see the practice nurse the day after I got my BFP (25th January), and she just told me to make an appointment to see the midwife. I saw the midwife yesterday for my booking in appointment - and she couldn't get rid of me fast enough!

I was never asked for doctor's confirmation with my pregnancies either. I called up my medical centre to say I'd found out I was expecting and they replied "okay, and are you willing to go through with it?" - hmm weird wording... lol; then the receptionist said she'd send my info off to the midwife and I'll get a letter through the post with my booking appointment. (Which since I have received and will be seeing the midwife at 8 weeks + few days.) I don't get why they bother wasting a doctor's time with confirmations really.

Hi Hun,

I went to the docs today to get my pregnancy confirmed as I'm now 5 weeks +2 and he just checked my blood pressure and then told me to book in with the midwife at reception but she won't seen me for another 3 and a half weeks so I'll be 9 weeks by then!!

The waiting is agony.

x
