1st Midwife Appt Today & Very Tired!

Morning ladies!

I've got my first midwife appointment today at 1:15pm, and I'm really excited/nervous

Also, I have never felt so tired in my whole life! Does anyone else feel the same? Last night, I went to bed at 7:30pm and I got up at 8am today, and I could quite easily go straight back to bed! I wish I didn't have to go to work.

Hope everybody else is ok.

xxx

Well, I thought I'd update this thread incase anyone was interested...

I had my first m/w appointment yesterday - and it was a complete and utter waste of time!
First off, the appointment was almost 20 minutes late, and she got my name wrong!
I was in and out in about 5 minutes (my husband took time off work to come with me too). All she did was write my name, address, DOB on a piece of paper, ask what hospital I wanted to go to, and then said, "Oh, I don't deal with that hospital. I'll just refer you."
She asked if I did any exercise, and took my blood pressure, and then said, "Do you know what you shouldn't be eating?" to which I replied, "Well, I am almost 8 weeks..." It's a bit bloody late if I don't know by now, isn't it?!
Oh, she asked the date of my LMP and then asked, "So, what date do you think this baby is due?"
It was absolutely rubbish. She didn't give me any advice, didn't do a blood test, urine test, didn't weigh me - NOTHING.
I feel really let down now!

Has anyone else had this kind of experience?

Nope; my booking appointments (first appt) were always much longer (they say it can take up to an hour) and they are supposed to test your urine, do blood tests, and go through yours & your partner's medical history. Maybe she didn't do any of these because she's referring you to a different midwife since she doesn't deal with that hospital? Seems very odd though.

I have to say, when I had my booking in appointment with the community midwife at the GP surgery when pregnant with Thomas, it was very similar. It wasn't until I was seen by the midwife at the hospital at the time of my first scan that they did urine and all that. I felt very underwhelmed by it all at the beginning, after going to the GP and them not doing a test to confirm or anything, then a crap midwife at the GP. But it does get more exciting as you go along because they listen for the heartbeat at the GP midwife when you are a bit further along.
