I saw mine at 6w1d, but the sonogram tech said it probably just started beating that day or the day before. She said it literally takes a day for the heart to develop fully and start beating, so we got lucky. Just one day off can mean you won't see it until a later scan

^^ My OB said the same thing about Otter at 6 +1... it was only 75 bpm and he said it had started truly beating in the previous 24 hours! It is amazing that HOURS can make the difference of seeing it or not.

we saw ours 6weeks+1. we actually saw the first beats. what a coincidence. i didnt really believe it. the doctor found it so amazing to see the first heartbeats ... and a good thing he came in late. otherwise we would probably had to go again. really a miracle.

but we also came too early a week before. there i was 5 weeks. and we didnt see a heartbeat.

No you would generally need a history of problems before you would get a scan. 12 weeks is generally the earliest unless there is a problem.

I saw mine at 6+3

Things are different in the US. I see an OB for all my prenatal care. My particular OB has a scan machine that he uses in his office and likes to do LOADS of scans. I think I had 10 or 12 with Otter. I'm 11 weeks and have already had 2 of Meerkat.

But we get charged for many of them, so I pay for them (and the OB care, too). I think to get an early scan in the UK you need to go private and pay for it unless you have a history of problems.
