I'm so sorry for your loss and that of your OH, I hope you heal through your heartbreak and find the strength to hope again.
I lost my first and only baby last year at 8 weeks. Like you,I was utterly broken by my baby's loss. I asked my parents to grow a tree in her memory - and they planted 4! We named her Lara.
I fell pregnant again after the first AF after my DNC- roughly 8 weeks later. The miracle part of the story which I wanted to share with you was that when I went for my scan at 7.5 weeks with Baby No.2 I discovered that the fibroids I had had for the last 15mo had completely disappeared. They had caused me chronic pain, to the point I had feared I would never carry a child. I believe Lara was sent to me to heal me and even though she lives forever in our hearts, she has forever left a mark in my womb, making this pregnancy so much more bearable than it otherwise would have been.
The point I'm trying to put across is that over the coming weeks, you may find that your baby has given you so much more than her loss has taken away from you, and somehow your baby's loss will reinforce your belief in life. When you feel joy, those moments will be so rich, you will feel on a high. After taking 3 weeks off work I threw myself into my day job, switched roles and genuinely believe it was Lara who made it possible for me to find this strength. Even though I was in mourning (night times were the worst), to the outside world, noone could understand why I was in such a good mood, and to be honest neither did I. I do still mourn her loss- I feel a huge amount of guilt that I didnt carry her to term-week 9 of pregnancy no.2 was nothing but hell and tears- but I keep remembering the gift she has left behind- my health, my renewed self-confidence and my general approach to life.
I believe your baby has left you with similar gifts. They're not worth analysing now, because the most important thing now is that mummy heals.
You're in my prayers,
love
Lara's mum
