Have you had any dress fittings yet? If not maybe you can play it out as long as possible before having to confess. It also depends if you want to still be bridesmaid?

If I was in that situation, I'd probably just tell her right away and ask her to stay quiet about it until 12 weeks (if you are a bridesmaid, I'm assuming you are close enough).

40 weeks is really just a number, you could easily go into labour at 38-42 weeks, so there is a chance you may not even be able to attend the wedding, so it is fair to be honest with her asap. I'm sure she will understand and be very happy for you.

she's currently choosing dress stage. I did remind her the other day that we'd been trying so she might end up with a bump. But obviously now its confirmed and the dates are only 5 days apart. If she chooses a dress etc I guess i'll tell her then and let her mull it over. I think she'll want me still but im nt sure about her spending that money if i don't make it. 5 days isnt alot of leway is it!?

No, especially at 5 weeks! My original due date (using LMP) was May 28, 2010, and after a scan at 6+5 (very accurate fetal pole measurement) it was June 3, 2010. So who knows, maybe you are actually due on the wedding date

Im gonna be about 8 months gone when im bridesmaid for my brother, I went and told them last week and asked if they still wanted me to do the job! They are thrilled and more than happy to have me looking like a beached whale on their photographs )

Thats so funny, I was about to post a similar thread. My sister is getting married in south of france on Sept 11 I am a bridesmaid and I will be 36 weeks. I have moved to paris as my OH had to come here for work and i thought i could have my baby in france and it would be easier for me to get to her wedding but now have found out there is so much red tape for having a baby in france my OH and I are now pretty much set on returning to London and getting in the system in UK.

I am not sure if i will be able to travel to her wedding (by car or high speed train) I figured it would be OK but i just don't know!!

I have not told her about pregnancy yet either. I also just got engaged on Sunday and i feel like she will think i am taking all of the excitement away from her. PLus now all the planning is underway for her hen weekend in valencia when i will be 27 weeks - I can fly at that time but it all means i have to tell her i am PG. I really don't want to tell anyone until i am 12 weeks either!

ooo yeah forgot about that. Trust my charting so much-hehe. I'm going by ovualtion dates cos i'm irregular and i ovlated day 20 this month so LMP would predict me at the 16th i think. roll on 12 week scan then!

Can you imagine being nearly 40 weeks and a bridesmaid-lol. I was a mammoth whale last time! dress fittings would be a nightmare

travelling wise ferries an option? thats pretty safe i would imagine
