The MW got tough with her as she wasnt pushing the baby out quickly enough and was completely in distress, could you not hear his heartbeat slowing right down that was touch and go, she actually put it better than i would have done

I think the MW was right to speak to her the way she did...she wasn't listening to anyone until she was told that and even then was going on about herself...when Caitlyn had tachardyia {sp} inside me all I was concerned about was her...not about how tired I was...and I'd been in labour for 5 days with little sleep.

Other than that I enjoyed the programme, the lady who had the c-section was so brave! And her OH looked so worried too bless him! Glad they're all doing ok now though

she spoke to her like that to make her submit and do what she said, wrong way of going about it totally if she had let her have a break and push when she actually needed to push it would have been less traumatic

I was spoken to in a similar way towards the end, I was told I was allowed one final push and if I couldn't do it then there would be medical intervention ... believe me I had already been pushing with all my might so it wasn't appreciated, I actually told her to shut up, pushed as hard as I could and out my baby came. Now was that because she had inspired me to push? Angered me? Or because he would've come out with the next push anyway? Regardless I didn't appreciate being spoken to like that after nearly 30hrs in labour.

i agree, i thought the midwife was a disgrace, i think i would have slapped her, i know she was under pressure but thats her job and she shouldn't have spoke to her that way. she should be used to this kind of thing. the poor woman looked exhausted. tbh im not lookin forward to givin birth in hospital now x

I'm going to go for a birthing suite, that programme has made my mind up for me. It worried me that she couldn't have an epidural even when she asked for it. She really looked like she needed help.

I loved the programme and have to say I thought that Steve was really funny you could tell they were a family that had a good sense of humor and it was keeping her spirits up she was smiling most of the time and when it came to the bit where the baby was getting distressed he totally changed and was there right by her side and was obviously worried. Have to say I don't think I'd have wanted my 18 year old son there. I thought the wife (can't remember her name) had a not too bad a labour and birth she didnt seem to make that much noise really (well not compared to how I was anyway you'd have thought I was being murdred with my first lol).

Lisa & Will were lovely I'd have hated my baby to be taken away from me and to have to wait all that time to see him must have been so hard. Glad to hear they are doing well.

I don't think people should be put off having a baby in hospital just because of the programme I had lovely midwives with both my deliveries and both births were such different experiences (first horendous, second great). I think midwives have to get firm with you especially if you've had gas & air and any other drugs I was totally away with the fairies with my first and was just not listening to the midwife until she got firm with me.

Can't wait for next week.

When I had my first the midwives were lovely although towards the end I was pushing then baby kept moving back up each time I pushed it wasn't quite enough - but as soon as the midwife threatened to do a cut I managed one final massive push to get my son out without the knife being weilded!! So threats do work!!
