Nest egg?

Now that your expecting has anyone started a nest egg ready for when baby arrives?

Im asking because we are due to get married next summer and its going to cost a fortune, i am thinking about putting it foward a year until 2010 and using the savings to go towards

We got married last summer and we are still paying it off now!!! I expect we will be until way after this LO arrives!!! We're not saving for when baby comes - we're sort of getting things as we go along. We are lucky to have very generous parents who have already pledged 'next eggs' for us to help ease the financial strain of dropping a wage. My sister has been putting things in out guest room since we started TTC as my nephew is 10 months now - bouncy chairs, first car seat, crib etc and we'll get her electric steriliser when she's done with it in a few months.

I dont think there are many people who can ever 'afford' a baby - you just have to cut your cloth accordingly!!! Although I must admit the thought of a wedding too would scare the heck out of me!!!

We are putting it off completely till after the LO is here, I'm thinking 2010 and then they can be a little bridesmaid or pageboy. Doesn't stop me getting sad that we won't all have the same surname thou But we will one day.

We haven't started saving as such, but my OH is sorting out our finances, mine are particularly messy.

We're quite Lucky OH's sister has a lot of big stuff to give us, so that will save us sme money.

I have an urge to 'nest build' for the baby, but have limited it to a baby box for all my magazines, books, vouchers, hospital paperwork etc. It's amazing the freebies you get given with magazines these days, we keep joking that with all the free gifts we'll have a complete set of everything by November.

I have to admit I did get a little travel case out of the loft the other day and disinfected it because I figure it will make a good hospital bag for the baby (waaaaay to early I know).

But I haven't bought anything new for the LO yet. Waiting for the first scan. Then we're going out and buying Eric's first teddy.

We're trying...slowly. We're considering buying a house this summer so that we'll be moved in when the baby is born. So we're going to have to see how the saving goes. I have 7 little cousins under the age of 6, so I should be okay for getting baby things hah.

We had a little bit of money put aside that we were going to use to go on holiday with at the end of next year but now i've finally got pregnant were putting it towards the baby instead. i don't have to worry about dropping a wage or anything like that as with the other two i really haven't worked properly since i split with their dad. I am also blessed in the fact my mum and dad wish to buy the pram/travel system and OH's mum and dad wish to buy the cot. My work where i am atm have also expressed their wishes to buy presents as has our Judo club Mums and dads lots and lots of people all wanting to help out it's a nice feeling but slightly overwhelming.

(i too have not bought anything yet, am also waiting for the scan although it hasn't stoped me looking )

We are lucky as we have very kind parents so we did luckily not get in debt when we had our wedding. We have money saved so will probably use most of it for baby, but our parents are more than likley going to help us out with baby as well as my mum is getting so excited already.
