Hi all, really need some advice. Just today I have developed a really nasty cold, my thoat feels swollen and sore, got pounding head and aching all over. I know it's prob just a bug I've picked up but I am worried how it will affect my little bean. Could me being ill harm it in any way? Feel so weak too. Am trying to rest and drink lots of fluids, but can't stop worrying. Any advice?

How's your temperature - I think thats the key. Keeping it down is the main thing as I understand it. You can take paracetamol to keep it down. Ring NHS Direct for some proper advice.

Colds and flu viruses should not have an effect on an unborn baby, unless a secondary infection such as pneumonia develops which affects the health of the mother.

Oh hun, I had this last week and felt like absolute crap. I've still got a cough and cold, but feel so much better. The rough bit only lasted about 36 hours, so you should be feeling a lot better soon. Stick with the paracetamol to keep your temp down and you'll be fine.
