I'm Currently Feeling: | CAFFEINE Before I got pregnant, I was addicted to caffeine. Since I got a BFP I cut it out completely. I am so exhausted through the day and I was curious if anyone had any tips on how to keep my eyes open at work. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | As of Jan 2008 the guidelines have been less stringent than 1 cup a day. The latest research shows this: Quote: |
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) currently advises pregnant women not to drink more than 300mg of caffeine a day (the equivalent of six cups of tea, or three mugs of coffee). This was based on the Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment evaluation on the reproductive effects of caffeine.
| Quote:
One mug of coffee contains about 100 mg of caffeine in it.
One cup of tea contains about 50 mg of caffeine in it.
One 50 g bar of chocolate contains about 50 mg caffeine.
One can of cola contains about 40 mg caffeine.

I'm Currently Feeling: | The american study that suggests no more than 200mg a day are still being investigated into as the test area was a very small amount of people 1063 of which 172 misscarried. Unfortunatly... I cant help with the sleep question... I have been asleep at 8pm most nights and waking up every 2 hours from 12 midnight onwards lol. Good luck hun. I personally disnt have any caffine until 7 weeks now i've started drinking moderate amounts as it helps stop me feeling sick and i'm willing to try anything that stops the sickness!! lol |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Prenatals have helped me a little bit. It also seems to help drinking some Powerade/Gatorade during the day. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | You should try drinking a protien shake mid-day... it has helped me alot in the energy department!! Make sure it is whey based and not soy based... and maybe talk to your doc first, but mine said it is okay. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | A square of high quality dark chocolate when you're feeling tired can really give you a boost. It has a small amount of caffeine and the antioxidants are good for you. Also, studies have shown that women who eat chocolate while pregnant have happier babies.
I cut out caffeine completely too but my doctor actually encouraged me to have a small latte every day. I need the calcium from the milk and the caffeine helps with the pregnancy headaches (and I'd rather drink a coffee than take Tylenol). |
