I went to the ob-gyn today and she booked my first (and probably only) ultrasound for week 18!!! I'm going to go insane waiting that long!! Did anyone else have to wait until that late in order to get a scan!?

OMG, that's so long to have to wait! Do you only get one scan in Cananda? If so then that's really unfair, cos it doesn't help you to stop worrying.
Here we get 1 at 12 weeks, and another at 20 weeks. Sometimes you can also get an early dating scan too, I had mine at 7 weeks.
Is there no other way of you getting a sooner date hun? What about if you paid for an additional scan, I know it's not fair to have to do that but it'll be well worth it if it puts you more at ease.

I think thats how it works in Canada. Leeann only got one at about 20 weeks. She opted for a private 3D one for a birthday present!!

Only one?? That sucks!! I thought the nhs was being tight with just two!!

Oo while we are here quick question.. isnt the dating scan the 12 week one?
My surgery said the midwife will be intouch in my 8th or 10th week, to arrange my dating scan..is that what she meant?

I only got one at 18-20 weeks with my other pregnancys its just recently that my health authority has introduced the 12 week scan for all before then there was only a selected few that got the early scan.

My hospital is changing to 1 scan after this year!

In the UK the dating scan is the scan at 12 weeks (approx).

When I had my first (almost 14 yrs ago) you only got 1 and I think it was at about 16wks.

The next closest hospital to me doesnt offer scans at all....
