How long did it take for your FRER line to get darker?

Hi ladies,

I hope you don't mind me posting here and apologies if people have already asked this recently, but (deep breath!)... I got a faint but visible line on Tuesday evening on a FRER (11 DPO ish I think) so I waited and did another one the following day with FMU. Again, a line, but pretty faint.

So I waited again and did another FRER yesterday evening - I have an idea that this is when my hormone level may be stronger as my nips are sore during the day, but get immensely worse in the evening, to the point where the bed covers brushing against them make me grimmace!

Anyway the FRER had a lovely pink line (still not as dark as the control line but a lot better than Tuesdays!) - but also a third, lighter line appeared as well which I have read about on the TTC thread and they say the test is faulty.

So I did another FRER (this is costing me a fortune ) this morning with SMU and again, a line, but very faint.

I have also tested with Superdrug tests but nothing definite has come up yet.

I am 13 DPO (I think) today.

Has anyone else experienced similar? How long after getting a faint FRER did your line turn to a nice strong one?

Sorry for the long post but I am a bit worried now! Any help would be very much appreciated,

Thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks mmoon, that makes me feel better! Its interesting to hear about the evening thing as well.

I actually have a Hcg blood test form from the doc from before xmas (didn't use it as period came next day after a 9 week wait for it!) so I am going to go and use it later so at least by the beginning of next week I will know one way or another!

Thanks for your help, much appreciated xxxx

Pregnancy tests only show if you are pregnant or not - not HOW pregnant you are. A 4 week pregnant woman could have a stronger line than a 12 week pregnant woman. It only tests to see if the hormone is present, not how much of it there is. If you take 6 tests after each other, you can have different shades of lines on each one. It means nothing. It is the presence of the line that is the important thing.

So you could buy tests for the next 7 weeks, and still not get a darker line. That is not what they do, or what they are for.
If you read the tests, they tell you that any kind of line is a what you are looking for. They don't say anything about getting darker with increased HCG.

Congrats hun - it seems that you are pregnant. You have had a number of positive pregnancy tests, and provided you have used them correctly, there should be no reason to doubt them. I wouldn't waste money on trying to get that line darker - pop to the docs and get it confirmed that way instead x

Thanks for your reply babyjane,

Going to nip out of work this morning and get some blood taken so at least I will know one way or another!

I have always had the view that a line is a line as you either have elivated hcg or you don't but when it comes to my own tests I can't help worrying :-)

Well, hopefully I will be joining you here soon then - fx xxxxxxxxx

Mine was just as dark as the control line on 16 DPO... first tested at 12DPO-- VERYYYY faint, but definitely there after seeing numerous BFN's all my other cycles!

Hi, Mine was as dark as the control line on my 1st day of missed period. I feel very lucky as it came up before the control line! I'm noit sure you should read too much into them. I only did that one test & haven't bothered doing another - waste of money. I'd test on 14DPO & then leave it - I reckon you are pregnant if you've got all those lines! We have enough to worry about as it is - don't add to them!

Well good luck...I'm sure it will be good news for you. Seriously though, the strength of the line does not matter one jot! xxx
