Sleeping Position... Advice Needed!!

Hi Everyone, I just found out I am pregnant and I have a question about sleeping position. I have read that it is best to sleep on the left side to optomize bloodflow to the uterus. I am having a harder time with this than I thought I would. I am usually a right sided sleeper. Sleeping on my back doesn't work for me. Is the left side the only option?!?

Hey im 26 preg and read the same about not sleeping on your back, i have a really hard time getting comfortable on my side and keep waking up on my back

So i have found the best way for me, is to lie on my side and put pillows both behind me and under my bump and one in between my knees, by putting one behind me i have found that if i try to turn over during the night i hit the pillow and just roll back onto my side

Sleep anyway you are comfortable. Especially this early on.

The concern with back sleeping is when you are heavily pg (advanced third tri), the weight of the uterus and baby might restrict blood flow through the inferior vena cava (the main vein that takes blood from the lower half of your body back to the heart).

But, to be honest, if that is happening, you won't be comfortable and will want to move anyway. This early on, sleeping position does't matter one bit. I still sleep on my tummy right now. hehe! Won't be able to for long, so getting it in now.

Once you get to where you can't belly sleep or back sleep, due to discomfort, you will find side sleeping is your only option. And that will suck, too. So, you end up flipping back and forth from side to side all night.

Bottom line, if it is comfortable, it is fine for you and for baby!

This early on sleep in any position you feel comfortable! You don't need to worry about not sleeping on your back unti late 2nd or the 3rd trimester. Enjoy sleeping in whatever position you want while you can
