1st doctor appt - worse experience

Well I went to my first official doctor's appt and I met my doctor. Unbelievable I am changing him ASAP. He was the rudest jerk I have ever met as soon as he came into the room he said do u know how much u weigh and I was like yea then he literally starts to like yell well now that u weigh that much that means ur a high risk pregnancy u will get diabetes and high blood pressure and ur high risk. I was in so much shock at how rude he was. I mean I have heard horror stories about inconsiderate doctors with pregnany and weight but he was over the top an a**hole! Then I am like I have hypothyroid sorry if that is an inconvienence for u. I mean hello I know how much I weigh I dont need u to tell me like ur overweight ur a burden. How about tell me how much weight I should gain and what I should eat to try to prevent these things but NO and he didnt even let me ask him any questions. Well needless to say I would rather pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for a great bedside mannered doctor than go to that jerk who's practically free.

Aw, so sorry you had to deal with that! Men just don't understand, even if they are doctors! I'd definitely find a new doc asap. Nobody needs the extra stress of having an asshole doctor!

Omg! What a d***! You really don't need that. Pregnancy should be a happy thing... you shouldn't have to feel like strangling your doctor. I'm sorry hun

That is crap. There is definitely a better doctor out there for you. I am overweight, and my O.B. hasn't mentioned this by itself at all. She does, though, talk about keeping my risk down for diabetes and monitoring my blood pressure, which I have taken medication for for years. It sounds like you found one of those doctors who have lost all joy for the profession and should find something else to do, or just retire! Good luck!

P.S. Wouldn't it feel good to tell him what you think of his manners before you leave his practice? lol, that would be funny.

Being on the heavy side does not mean, that you will get GD, or gain more weight than an average weighted person. That's ridiculous. And in many cases women gain less that are a little heavier. That's just stupid. Yeah, get another doctor, if he's like this now, he'll be worse later

Not only change doctors but make a huge complaint against him. What he said was totally unprofessional and should not be said to a pregnant lady, what cause them unnecessary stress and worry!! what an absolute jerk! sorry you had to go through that.
