Doppler

I recieved my doppler in the post on friday but have been too scared to use it, im scared that i wont hear a heart beat and get myself all worked up and worried.
Are they 100%? Can you always hear baby? Should i wait until doctors appointment at 18 weeks to hear heartbeat?

Gems xx

Hiya Gems. I got mine at the weekend too! I can't heat the hb yet, but you can hear them kicking around if you listen really carefully! It's really nice. You just can't panic if you can't hear anything, cos they're so little at the moment, you're lucky to hear a thing! Mind you, I'm sure I've seen other posts where people have heard the hb at this stage, so it just depends where the baby's lying!

I heard my baby's HB at 12weeks but it did take a while to find it. Have a go and just take ur time. If u cant hear it don't panic just leave it a couple more days and try again.
I can hear mine low down but near the middle, its really fast......i counted 160beats per min
Good luck, its so exciting when u find it!! x

What make is it? That has alot of effect on how good it is. You can always try it, and if it doesn't work, then it's just that your LO is too small yet. I had a rubbish one and I only found the heartbeat once, at 21 weeks!

Its an Anglesounds fetal doppler, i got it for £25 on ebay.
Will give it a whirl tonight and hopefully hear something, if i dont i will try not to get to upset, as you all say it may be too soon to hear. Fingers crossed xx

My midwife even had trouble finding mine sometimes. She was usually laying awkward! Good luck

Ive got the Angelsounds one and its fab! I didnt get mine til 17 weeks and I could hear it quite well but I had used a friends one at 12 weeks and could hear it very faintly. Put a blob of KY jelly or something similar on the round microphoney bit and it really helps! Also the speakers they come with arent the best quality so if you've got some speakers with your mobile phone or an iPod etc then try it with those.

Dont panic if you cant hear it yet, try again in a few days

Good luck!!

I want to buy some additional headset so OH can listen at the same time as me. I have the new 2008 angel sounds that you don't need the gel with. Has anyone seen where you can get additional headsets?

I have the Hi Bebe one, and I heard the LO yesterday with it!!! I was beginning to get worried, but I found it!! If you don't find it right away - don't be upset, the baby is soo tiny at this point and they have to be in the right position, etc.!! Good luck
