You should listen to your body, but sitting on your bum for a week isn't good!! ;-) I have started swimming because I was getting lazy! Just do a bit to start with and build your way up. Never do heavy excercise unless you're used to it. And rest when you need to.

I also ride and I am carrying on as normal. Id like to keep as much body tone and strength as possible before I cant do things. Ive just had to change my riding goals for this year, no jumping shows... I figure this will also help me get back into good shape after the baby is born.

I like to go for walks and swim too. I think it is important for people to excersize as much as is safe. I could never just throw everything away and say "well, im pregnant so its my time to be lazy and eat lots"...

Exercise is good but if your bodys not used to it you will have to start off very gently and also listen to your body and rest when your body tells you.

Things like going for walks, swimming, prenatal yoga etc are very low risk and low impact, and are very good for people who dont regularly excersize.

Because our bodies really need movement and stimulation to be healthy, it even helps with digestion. Even if its not super work out. The joints and ligaments need stretching and movement, especially with the weight gain, keeping mucles tone and core strength will help with labour too.

By all means though, listen to your body and dont overy work.
