Swine flu vaccine!! Not sure what to do.

Just got a call from the recetionist at my gp surgery to make my appointment
to have my swine flu vaccination.

Just wondered if everyone else was having it?
And what risks are involved??

Not sure if I should have it or not.

Thanks

Hi Ferret, how many weeks are you? I'm 7.6 weeks and i've been reading posts about this on here. I want to try and wait until the 2nd trimester before i have a jab. I've heard conflicting things, most websites say it's safe, Doctor Hilary Jones of GMTV said the jab hasn't been out there long enough to be double sure okay, so he thinks there's a slight risk involved. I think i'd rather have a jabb, but wait for when i'm over 12 weeks when the embryo has become a fetus and more established..

I'm just a day behind you at 7.5 weeks. I was kinda thinking the same as you.
I'm extra parnoid about everything after having an early m/c in Oct,
so don't want to do anything that I'm not sure about.

My doctor strongly recommended I get it. I did last week and have had no problems. It was the preservative free kind.

heya, im still not sure

but i have found this

In England, the rate of general practitioner consultations for influenza like illness was 12.1 per 100,000 population for the week ending 17 January 2010. There are still 211 patients in hospital with swine flu in England, 62 of whom are in critical care. The Health Protection Agency overall estimate of the number of cases in the last week remains below 5,000, where it has been for the last three weeks.National Pandemic Flu Service

The number of people receiving antiviral drugs through the National Pandemic Flu Service (NPFS) in the week ending 18 January 2010 was 6,337. This represents a fall from the figure of 13,436 for the week ending 5 January 2010 and is the lowest weekly number since the NPFS was activated.Vaccination programme

The total estimated number of front line health and social care workers vaccinated to-date in England is 387,000. The total number of vaccine doses administered to the priority groups in England to-date is 3.7 million. This figure includes: 132,000 pregnant women; and 214,000 healthy children aged 6 months to under 5 years in England.
