I decided to not get it. I'm just uneasy about vaccines. Especially one that hasn't been out very long.

I just want you to know I read an article saying it may be linked to early miscarriages. I'm not getting it at all but if you do you should probably wait, I've heard conflicting things about getting it in the first trimester.

Here's the article:

Same here, each to their own, but my main worry is the longer term effects of it. They can't possibly know them.

Just noseying in from third tri , I had it at 20 weeks , Felt pressured to have it and regretted it as I was frightened by all the negative comments from people about possibly loosing my baby . I have no suffered any affects yet , as far as I can see but I was ill the night I had it , I had a mild temperature and headache . I feel both glad I had it as I was afraid not to but nervous because I did . I just want to say stick to your guns if you don't want it don't .. its not worth the worry
However if you feel you want it , speak to your Doctor about it and make sure your comfortable .

I had the jab when I was around 7 to 8 weeks, I too had doubts but I sat down with both the doctor and the nurse who administered the jab and they both put my mind at ease.

They would not be asking pregnant women to go in for it if they really belived it was going to cause complications.
Our immune systems are lowered when we are pregnant so we are more likely to catch swine flu and be seriously ill.
There are 2 different vaccines and one of them is not so safe for pregnant women so make sure you double check they are aware that you are expecting before they administer it.

If you are worried about having the jab then ask for a chat with someone at your GP Im very sure they will be happy to talk with you and if you are still concerned you can always leave without having it done.

Im sure you will be ok with whatever you decide xx

I got it at five weeks, less than a week after my BFP. I've had no problems and would do it again. In fact, when I went in for my first appt, the first thing the doc asked was if I'd had my flu shots (the H1N1 and the seasonal shot). I'd much rather take the (incredibly small) chance that I had a bad reaction to the shot than to get the flu (which pg women are more suceptible to anyway), harm myself or my baby that way and know I could have prevented it. And from what my doctor told me, H1N1 isn't new, nor is the vaccine. This particular strain just hasn't been around in many years (say since our grandparent's or great-grandparent's generation), thus the mad rush to remake the vaccine. But that's just me, and I'm about as pro-vaccine as you can get.

im not having it....and nor will my daughter who is 3. it's not been tested enough and the long term effects have not been seen yet. my mil was telling me when she was younger she remembers babies whose mothers had anti sickness meds to stop the morning sickness and because it hadn't been tested enough they didn't know the effects and babies were born with deformed or missing or exta limbs apparently
i know it's a bit different from the swine flu but my point is they dont know the long term effects yet and im not chancing it
xxxx
