Empty Sac at 7 weeks - anyone?

After years of trying. We finally managed our natural BFP on Xmas Eve. I had an early scan 2 weeks ago and measured 5 weeks and could only see gestatinal sac and what she thought was the yolk sac and said this was fine as it was to early. We went back today and gestational sac measured 7w5d but it was completely empty. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Wht was the outcome? I have a tilted uterus and have read that this could obscure the view of babba but the sonographer seemed certian that this was all doom and gloom. All yr comments welcome. Thanks, Kate x

I have heard that a tilted uterus does make it difficult to find the baby during an ultrasound, otherwise it would be diagnosed as a blighted ovum. However, before they try to offer you anything else, I say either wait it out and get another scan done or find a more experienced sonographer. Nothing wrong with waiting it out. Good luck to you!

Anyway your doc can order you an hcg test to be done one day then 2 days later, if you're levels are going up normally all should be ok and maybe its the uterus thing if levels are going up very slowly could be ectopic or if going down mc. Not saying this is it for you but it's another way to find out sooner if you really need to know. I wish you all the luck hun!

I don't want to build your hopes up but I had a scan at 7 weeks and was told my sac was empty and the doctor was trying to get me to have a D&C I was to upset to think and said I would wait for it to occur natrually.
I was really upset so he said come back in 1 week and we will double check but there is only 1% chance of anything being there, when I when back there she was measuring a week later.
So I say wait it out until you are fully sure. Good luck

i too have a tilted uterus did they do and internal scan or external? if it was external then i would only expect them too see the sac if it was internal the it might be bad news im afraid
i went for a scan saturday at 7 weeks and she tried to do an external scan but could only see the sac, then she did an internal and she saw sac, yolk sac and baby measuring 10mm
do not give up hope, they do get it wrong sometimes xxxx

Nothing you can do but wait for another scan..all the worry in the world will do nothing good for you.. Take your pre-natals... do you're best to relax and stay strong.

I had a scan at 7.5 weeks, which unfortunately turned out to be a blighted ovum but this was only confirmed after a one week wait, but my hcg levels had been low to start with so I kind of knew something was up. As others have said there is a chance everything is fine. Fingers crossed your next scan shows good news. Good luck.
