Vbac

I know it's a bit early to start thinking about this, but did anyone discuss VBAC with their midwives if they had a C-Section last time? I've had 2 ectopics resulting in laporotomy's and an emergency C-Section, so I think I'll opt for another C-Section because I'm worried about all my scars rupturing if I don't.

Has anyone got any more info on it at all so I can make a more informed decision?

Hi...
I dont have much info but i was under the impression that if you had a csection 1st time and due again within 24 months after that that you had to opt for a csection again
I'm not certain though......i see my MW on sunday and see what she sais as mine will only be 16 months apart.

Hi I'd be interested to know the answer to this one. I've not had a C-Section before but i've also had two ectopic pregnancies which resulted in surgery. The most recent one was less than 5 months ago and i'm now 8 weeks pregnant so i'd like to know if I can have a normal delivery or not due to the scarring?

Ooh that's strange - I conduct Clinical Audits for our Trust for Obs & Gynae and am just analysing the results for a VBAC audit. The rate of uterine rupture is incredibly low (the standard states it should be less than 1% across the Trust). Have you just had 1 CS? In which case the chances of a successful VBAC are very high assuming you don't have any other risk factors.

Ive just done some searches on the net and past threads and i dont think there are any definite answers to this...unless you had a c-section for a specific reason which is likely to happen again/or be the same this time round.
It seems it can depend if you want a csection again and what your MW suggest too....like a joint decsion maybe.

At the moment i dont want to go though what i did last time so am edging towards a csection this time too.

KizzyWizzy6 - after my first ectopic I was allowed to go for a V-birth, unfortunately it didn't work out! Not sure what the situation is when it's so close to a previous op.

Amy-T - that's interesting. Yes, just one C-S. I guess I really need to have a good chat with the midwife!

I had a crash c-section with my ds due to cord prolapse and got pregnant with my dd almost straight away. I was given the choice to have another c-section or a vbac but they advised that they would not try any form of induction as there was a higher risk relating to rupturing. I opted for the vbac but unfortunately it was not meant to be and dd was born by emergancy c-section (much less stressful than the first time). I havent seen the consultant yet but I dont think it will be up for discussion this time which is a bit sad as i would have liked to try a normal delivery.
