ive choosen not to have the nuchal scan even thou iam at higher risk as nrly 40,but i already have a daughter who is special needs has aspergers syndrome and adhd,dyspraxia and learning difficulties,and see it as any child we recieve is a gift and special so if does turn out to be downs then well cope and manage and will be as loved as any of mynormal children,every person is different and it is a very difficult and personnel decision of which you have to think about carefully.
