Silly question

Hi girls, sorry if this sounds silly but how and where do you book your first appointment to confirm the pregnancy and check everything is OK? I think I will be 8w pg tomorrow according to my calculations. Do I phone up my GP surgry and say "I think I'm pregnant can I see a doctor"???? Also is it a GP or midwife I need to see and what do they do in the first appointment? Dohhhhhh feel silly asking! Any answers are much appreciated x x

It's different with every town/country.

I first went to see a doctor and he confirmed it by taking blood and urine samples.

Then I went to my obgyn, and she is dealing with the pregnancy now.

My family doctor is creepy, so I just went into the local health unit when I found out and asked them for a referal. They did the test and then send me for a scan to go through with my referal and now im just waiting on the OBGYN to call me for our initial appointment.

Lots of doctors don't bother with confirming pregnancy anymore since hpt's are so accurate so you're normally told just to book in with the midwife.

I rang my GP surgery and they contacted the midwife for me. The MW contacted me and I saw her during week 8 for my booking in appointment.

The booking in appointment took about an hour and the MW just asked me loads of questions about mine and my DH's medical history and took some blood samples. She didn't take a urine sample or do another pregnancy test which I was a bit surprised at, she just took my word for it. I've got my first scan on Monday.

xx
