Doctors say 12 weeks is the "safe" time. I was the same until I passed the 12 week mark.

Yeah 12 weeks is the 'safe zone' But also if they can detect a heartbeat at 8weeks then ur risk goes down i think to 95% if they can detect 1 at 10weeks ur risk goes down even further to 99% (i had a scan at both of these times private)
I have my 13 weeks scan on Tuesday.
The best thing to do is try not to think about it, hard i know but miscarrige is so common 1 in 4 so just relax and try and live stress free!! Congrats on the BFP! happy and healthy 9months! xx

Quote:
The latest Scientific data published in the journals (in March 2008 ) report information from a large study in Australia which found that in singleton pregnancies, the rate for miscarriage declined significantly at 8 weeks (to around 3% I think) and again at 12 weeks to less than 1%. There was no difference in women aged less than 31 compared with those who were older, although there was minimal information for the older age group (above 35). This confirms other information that suggests miscarriage rates reduce markedly from 50 days onwards. Good Luck!
hope this helps

P.S Ive stolen this wording from a non scienific website but I've found similar things on research papers and such

i think up to 7 weeks is where most miscarriages take place and it is less common for them to happen between 7 and 12 weeks. when u reach the 2nd trimester, the risk goes down significantly, as the reason for most miscarriages are something to do with the genes not being able to develop properly or something like that?

well they say 12 weeks but i dont wanna alarm u but tradegy can strike at any time! it just changes from misscarriage to still born after a certain point!!
i thought i was safe with my first 3 children but they were all still born between 36 and 40 weeks!
so in my opinion there is no "safe" time u just need to b on guard at the first sign of trouble and get yourself to a doc!! xx
