Has anyone had a VBAC before?

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering if anyone has had a VBAC after an emergency c-section. I had to have a c-section in 2008 and it will be 2 years and 5 months since the op when I am due with this baby.

I am worried about having to have a canula in my hand again, as for me this was the most painful thing I have ever experienced! Silly isn't it considering they had cut my belly open. I can't stand needles, and the canula is just that one step over the line for me. I can now handle my bloods and Anti-D but the IV canula is awful. Last time they actually sprayed my blood everywhere trying to get it in. It went all over my OH and the bed sheets

I know that success rates are increased depending on the reason for c-section. Mine was because bean was breech, and when they did the C-section, he actually had his foot jarred in my pelvis bone which was why he could not turn.

Can I refuse a canula if I wish?

And what are the chances of Scar rupture?

xxxxx

Hi I can't help reply but I had a c section last time too which will be 2 years 8 months! would love to jump on board if you don't mind to see the replies you get

Sounds like your cannula went a bit wrong may be a new doctor or something! as it should not of sprayed blood or really badly hurt it is just a tiny tiny plastic tube left in so should not hurt too much I have had loads and loads and only had 1-2 that hurt so next time the chances of it hurting like that are near zero they should not hurt any more than having bloods taken just try to relax as when you tense up everything hurts more I always think of something else and look the other way

Hey

Of course you can jump on board.

I went in to have baby turned but my waters broke when I got there, so I think I noticed the IV more because I wasn't expecting it. As soon as they realised my water had broke they had me all tubed up, drugged and ready to go. So wasn't really expecting baby to arrive that day lol.

I am hoping that 2yrs + would be a good healing period on our scars 'FX'. Really want a natural birth but suppose had better prepare just in case.

xxxxxx

I had a c-section, and was advised against a VBAC.. The second delivery was also a c-section. This one will be too. I am OK with it, because my uterus is too thin to go through labour. I would have a VBAC if they had advised it though. A friend of mine had a c-section, and then two years later she had an "at-home" VBAC! She said it was the most empowering feeling in the world.

I had such a horrible labour as i was induced baby came four days latter!! that infact i am more scared of a VBAC than a second section I look at it that a section would be planned but not having a long recovery and being able to lift your baby and be home the next day is really making me want to fight at my 20 week consultant review for a VBAC and I think i would feel i had missed out if I had never given birth myself,
I don't know anyone who has had a VBAC I hope some lovely ladies reply who have

I cannot advise you from personal experience as I had to have an emergency section when my baby was born 2 months ago. However, I do know at least 2 people who have had a successful VBAC less than 2 years after their section. In fact, my aunt had her second baby 18 months after and my friend had her second by VBAC 15 months after section with no issues. My GP has told me that if I wait 6 months before getting pg with #2, chances are I could have VBAC so I hope you girls find you have no issue if that is what you want. Good luck
