question over dates

Looking at everyone's signatures which show your date counters till due day, I had a question. If someones counters says 12 weeks gone, is that 12 weeks from conception or 12 weeks from last period?

And the first scan you have (normally 10-12 weeks) again is that 10-12 weeks from conception or last period.

I'm confused as to how far along I should say I am. From when I think conception was I am about 7 weeks. Or do I say I am 9 weeks???

It is from the first day of your last period, from my understanding!

To get a ticker of your own, you can put the date of the first day of your last period on a due-date calculator (like this one: http://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-due-date-calculator) and then use it to get a ticker (like these: http://tickers.baby-gaga.com/pregnancy.php) then stick the code in your signature

Thank you everyone. That makes me approx 9 weeks then (7 weeks since conception). So my first scan should be sooner than I was expecting which is nice as I should get an accurate date then - then I can get a ticker thing too!
