vbac??

I got a consent letter to sign from my mw, because I told her at my appointment that I was thinking of gong for a normal birth.

It says that mothers who have had a previous section are encouraged to go for a vaginal delivery.

But it also says that the success rate for a vbac is about 75%???
So does that mean that 25% of vbacs go wrong? Does anyone have any data to backthis up?

It then goes on to say the most serious complication from a vbac is uterine rupture (less than 1% of cases) internal/external bleeding can occur and may require trasfusin/hysterectomy, and that rarely fetal injury or death may occur.

Am I getting worried about nothing?

Because as far as I can read it tells me a 2nd section risks include damage to mothers bladder or bowel.

Now I don't know what to do lol

I guess there is a risk, with the pressure etc on the wound. Id weigh it up by looking at the reasons why u had the c-section and chances of that happening again (ie whats ur chances of having a vaginal birth this time) then looking at how ur wound healed with ur first section and how long ago u had ur section.

I had a section with my first, it was over 3 years ago so will be almost 4 years by time im giving birth to my second. I didnt have any complications or problems with scar and I hope that this time I can go for a vaginal birth. My reason for section was failure to progress due to baby being in OP.
I think this time the whole thing will be totally different because I have had a section previously and ur classed as an amber patient rather than green with no complications u will need extra attention paid to because of ur scar so hopefully that prevents any complications ?? xx

I've heard the risks are great for c-section scars that go vertically down the abdomen as opposed to the standard horizontal incision. The risks to both bladder and bowel exist as pushing can result in tears in the muscles or issues after having an episiotomy. I have heard that many women are happy that they gone with VBAC but its a personal decision. There is a lot of literature out there regarding VBACs. I think those stats also depend on your location as medical standards and procedures depend on your area! So I would say continue to research and don't be afraid to ask for your location specific stats.

I had an emergency section with my son, he was 4 weeks early.
Id went for a checkup they told me my bp was a little high, but nothing to worry about. About a week later I felt ill in the morning so went in, collapsed on the bed and was rushed to the maternity section. I was pretty much out of it for that whole day.

Now I have told the mw I had pre ecplampsia, and I know that I have to keep it easy if I get high bp. I was slightly pissed that they didn't warn me at all to take it easy, I moved house after that appointment!

So I will have All my shopping and sorting done by about 7 months so I can just do nothing stress atall.

Well I think the best bet is to monitor your condition closely at the end and see how you are doing because at the end of the day all any woman can do is what's best for her and baby!

Definitely take it easy though!
