I have severe sickness too and I also lost a lot of weight because of it...

But she needs to force herself to eat small bites and she will gradually regain her apetite...

Congrats!

Sounds like she has pretty bad Morning sickness. Tell her to eat several small meals a day (this usually helps alleviate the nausea). I also found that eating plain soda crackers throughout the day (and especially before getting out of bed in the morning) really helped.

I know it's hard to eat when you feel like crap, but eating little and often can help to make the feeling go away. I keep a bag of dried apricots in my office drawer at work so that I can eat whenever I feel a bit queezey. A lot of small meals might be easier to face that one big plate.

Dehydration can cause "morning" sickness, so encourage her to drink enough water

Lots of water and tell her to try to eat something because it is the not eating that makes you feel sick believe it or not. It is to do with low blood sugar levels. Also, it is quite normal to lose some weight at first (I lost 8 lb) The midwife said that in the early stages the baby will take whatever it needs from your reserves, it won't go short on anything.
