Bacterial Vaginosis

So, how lovely to start off my Tuesday, Ive discovered that I have a case of Bacterial Vaginosis. For anyone that doesnt know what THAT thing is, its the most horrible thing to happen to any women EVER. Its so revolting. I always feel so bad for my boyfriend. So, what im wondering is, how with this affect my pregnancy during my first trimester? Im currently 7 weeks. Ive heard about preterm labor and all that but can that happen this early on? This stuff certainly has me stressed. Plus, do they give you oral antibiotics? Or is it the vaginal cream/gel? I HATE that stuff. Also, I havent been able to make a doctor's appointment yet because of my funds, so how long can I have this before REALLY worrying even further? Thanks!

BV can be treated with oral antibiotics or antibiotic gel pessaries. It is quite common, and while uncomfortable and unpleasant, doesnt affect pregnancy in the first trimester. It does need to be treated though, so as soon as you can get treated, the better

Hey hun, I've had it and my OB/GYN sent me some tablets to insert in the vagina and some cream. Try and see to it as soon as posible as it's no good for you or the baby. Good luck. xxx

Ive suffered with this before, many a times. I think the first thing that spawned it was my IUD that I had for almost 4 years. I recently took it out due to the infections it kept giving me. Turns out, it wasnt the IUD! LOL Guess it just started the process and now I get the joy of dealing with it forever! The oral antibiotics wont hurt the baby will it?

You need to get treated as soon as honey as it can cause complications in the 2nd trimester if left untreated.

They will give you antibiotics that are suitable for pregnancy. BV is when your ph balance in your vagina gets upset, allowing bad bacteria to grow. There are products that redress the ph balance x

Could me BECOMING pregnant have caused the BV? I plan on getting in ASAP. Theyre booking a week out because my OB is a friggin GOD lol So, my initial visit is $245 and that will cover everything he'll do for the infection as well. I hate having this. Its the most embarassing thing ever and I WILL NOT be sexually active with my boyfriend unless were in the shower due to "the aroma." HAHA

My sister has had this and it was easily cleared up with oral anti-biotics. She said to prevent it you shouldn't use soap down there or heavily perfumed toiletries.
