I'm Currently Feeling: | I didn't realise you were supposed to take them, and when I went to the midwife's at 9 weeks she told me to have it for 3 weeks.
I'd get a prescription for them as soon as tbh.. |

if there was any problems with the baby (e.g. because of lack of folic acid) do u know if they can detect this in the 12 week scan or do u have to wait a lot longer? | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | When my dr confirmed that I was pregnant, he recommended a prenatal vitamin. Since you are pregnant, I would probably say start taking a prenatal vitamin, there is folic acid in them. I myself am taking Materna and there's lots of stuff in them that will help with the growth and health of the baby. I dont know if this helped you at all, but if it did I'm glad. Good Luck! | | | | Status: Offline

| Folic acid supplementation isn't essential - women have been having babies for thousands of years without swallowing little pink sanatogen pills so don't beat yourself up about it. Evidence shows that it reduces your risk of neural tube defects i.e. it makes a small risk even smaller. In an ideal world where we all plan babies months/years in advance yes you start taking it before conception but it does still have some effect if you only start taking it later on so definitely consider it now but don't beat yourself up about it! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | when i went to my doctor last week she asked me if im taking it and i said yes but ive only just started as i didnt know i was pregnant and she said thats ok but as long as im taking it now as it just reduces the risks
I still worry a bit tho cuz i think i might be more far gone then was estimated but i did read on a few websites that folic acid is in a few foods too like green veg if your still worried speak to your midwife - im seeing mine for my booking in app next week so ill be asking her a long list of questions LOL xx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I took it in the first few weeks but was unable to take it everyday because my gag reflex was on overdrive and I'd just gag them back up again. I got myself into a state because i couldn't take them for a week! Luckily my gag reflex has calmed down so i can swallow them again. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I started taking them after I tested positive, just in case. Wont do me any harm and they were only about £4 from Boots for a 90 day course | | | | Status: Offline
