Finally after what seems like the longest week ever i have my 1st docs appointment this afternoon.

Im really happy now its finally here and i can now get things in process with the hospital and midwife etc i know i am def pregs cuz ive done 3 tests last week but a small part of me is still scared that shell say im not LOL - silly aint i!! At least ive started to relax more and not worry about every little pain so much!

I was just wondering what normally happens when you go - does the doc test you themselves and take bloods and measure you etc or do they just refer you to the midwife at the hospital? Or is it different depending on areas? Im from Leicestershire. xx

when i went to the doc first time i took my tests with me and she just worked out approx dates, didn't even test me untill i asked her too - i did take several tests with me lol.
she then referred me to the midwife and i recieved a letter stating when my appt was. it's usually around 8 wks.

last time i was pg i went in to the doc and she just said to book an appointment with the m/w that was it she didn't test my blood or wee.

When i went she didnt test me at all. She felt my stomach, did breast check, weighed me and that was about it.

Shes passsed my details onto hospital and im waiting for mw to contact me.

when I went to tell them I was pregnant, they did nothing! No tests - nothing! He chatted to me about the nuchal scan, told me to fill a form in to send off for my 1st scan and said they'd be in touch about a midwife appointment. A complete non event really! Don't be disapointed if nothing happens yet!!

Cool thanks i now at least have an idea of what to expect i have loads of questions for her haha good jobs mines a late app so i dont hold everyone up!!

I know what you mean about the longest wait ever! I'm waiting for my appoint and was going to ask the same question. As i've said before it's reassuring to think other people are going through the same thing. I have taken two tests so far both a positive and yet i'm still scared the doc will say that I am not. I have the added worry of the fact me and my doctor just don't get along. We hit it off on the wrong foot when I questioned the medication she was giving me. Hopefully we will begin to be friends again now, I know she has got a little one herself. Fingers crossed

Docs app went fine didnt test me or anything just gave me the number for the midwife so i have to call for a booking app and then take it from there so all is good - but what a long week to wait just for a midwives number haha xx
