I'm Currently Feeling: | Freaking out ..... High risk Hi,
I'm completely freaking out here. I hope someone has some idea what I should do...
I've been having trouble as my hospital antenatal clinic forgot to organise my booking appointment. I got a voicemail this morning saying my care had been transferred to the hospital high risk pregnancy midwifery service - with no mention as to why. I called them back and they said they couldn't tell me why as it was a medical matter and the receptionist couldn't discuss these things and to speak to the high risk people. I called them and they hadn't a clue who I was or why I should need it but hopefully I'd get a letter in a couple of weeks!!! I'll be 10 weeks by then...
I just want someone to tell me what's going on, why I'm suddenly high risk and what all this means! I've called my GP and they don't have a clue either. I don't know what to do and keep wanting to cry - I know I'm probably beig over-emotional but I feel like someone thinks there's a problem with my baby and no-one will tell me what.
Does anyone have any ideas what else I can do? | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | First of all try not to worry, second have you actually had any tests done that could show there is any risk or is your age or previous medical history a problem? If not I would just assume they booked you in there because of the problems you had making a booking appt.If there was a problem the people you spoke to in high risk dept would have a record of it. Maybe you should phone again and explain how worried you are xx | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Aw hun, is there any reason why they would have you under high risk care? If not, then it sounds like it's just been a cock-up from beginning to end !!
Try not to worry, high risk, doens't mean that aything bad is going to happen, it's just where you go if there is more to kep an eye on.. like twins... or diabetes... or high blood pressure... you get seen lots more, which is a good thing !! | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I truly think it is horrible that they wouldn't tell you why before they told you you were being transferred to the high risk midwifery service. Why do they do this? Someone should have sat down with you and explained the reasons BEFOREHAND.
And now you have to wait for a letter!?
Gosh, that sounds so impersonal to me. | | | | Status: Offline

And now waiting for a letter?!

I'm Currently Feeling: | No, I don't have any condition which would make me high risk. The high risk people don't want to see me, but the normal people are refusing to and so at the moment I'm not under any antenatal care! The thing that really annoys me is that its taken three whole weeks to even get this far and they don't even seem to care what effect it has..... The OH is a med student so at least he's reassuring but the whole thing just seems designed to add more stress.
I'm going on holiday tomorrow and its looking like this isn't going to sort itself out while I'm away........ Thanks for reading though - just needed someone to rant at! | | | | Status: Offline

It really does sound like someone has just messed up majorly !! I'd lodge a complaint once everything is sorted.
In the meantime... try to relax, you'll be fine. Go and relax and enjoy your holiday. You deserve it after all the stress | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm surprised they didn't tell you. If they considered you high risk they should get you in immediately first off, and let you know why they consider you high risk secondly. Sounds like a complete mix-up on their end! | | | | Status: Offline
