1st scan nerves!!!

Hi this is my first time on the site
I am 12 weeks pregnant and am going for my 12 week scan on Tuesday.
Although I should be feeling happy about this I am feeling a little nervous. My sister in law who was pregnant at the same time as me went for her 12 week scan last week but was told the baby had died at eight weeks, (they couldnt detect a heartbeat) this has really knocked me for six and am terrified they are going to tell me the same other people have been telling me I have nothing to worry about but it doesnt really help, I wont be happy till I go and I see for myself.
Does anyone else have these scan fears? I feel I am going mad

Although I have ages to go before I can even think about a scan, I understand your anxiety. I stress and panic every day that there isn't actually anything in there and if there is, then it has or will go wrong. To try and make myself a bit positive when I'm really bad, I read one of the threads where I know someone has had a positive and thrilling scan! There's not much we can do to alter the outcome, but we need to stay as strong and stress free as we can for our babies.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!

If you haven't been nleeding and you still have pregnancy symptoms, even just the easy ones, you have nothing to worry about...
Relax, once you hear its little heartbeat, you'll forget everything...
Good luck..

I know exactly how you feel. I was just the same last week, and when I saw my baby on that screen, it was the most uplifting and reassuring thing ever.
If you've still got your symptoms, then don't worry. If what happened to your friend, had happened to you, you would completely lose all symptoms ( I did ).
Let us know how your scan goes, and we want piccies !!!!!!!!

I think we all feel that way hun. Stay positive - as Ann-Marie said when you see your LO you are going to feel soooo happy.

Try and stay positive hun, trying not too get too stressed out is prob the best thing you can do for your little bean at the mo. (although it's easier said than done!)
I had a dating scan on Fri, and at first they couldn't pick anything up on the ultrasound, as there was alot of gas in my bowel. I was terrified and so scared that something had gone wrong. They then did an internal scan and picked up my little bean straight away. The reason it had been hard to detect via ultrasound is that I'm only 7 weeks gone. But the feeling of seeing my tiny little baby, and also a strong heartbeat, was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced, and it will be for you too. Thinking of you hun, keep us updated,
xx

From past history scans scare me because the last two have been bad news. I feel your fear.

Hi everyone,

My girlfriend is into her 11th week now, and has a meeting with the midwife in the next few days.

It is frightening to me to hear her say that she is worried about the scan, for the reason being that she says she does not 'feel' pregnant. I am not sure what to do for her, it upsets me as much as it does her, but I want to be able to provide comfort and just go through it all together.

To the ladies here that have unfortunately experienced this situation, going for a scan and finding no heartbeat...is the 'not feeling pregnant' something that you also felt, or is it also to do with the fact that you may not feel pregnant until you start to see the bump.

She has gone through some sickness, metallic kind of tastes in the mouth, needing the toilet a lot. I just get upset that I have no control over anything, when all I want to do is make sure the two of them are happy.
