strep throat and pregnancy

I'm pretty sure I have strep throat. My father, younger sister and husband have contracted it within the last two weeks and I've woken up feeling sick the last 2 days. Will it be safe for me to take antibiotics so early in pregnancy.. Should I schedule too see a doctor tomorrow or will it go away on its own..will strep throat hurt my developing baby?

I've got tonsilitis at the moment which is maybe similar, and the doctor gave me penicillin. She promised me it was safe but that it only had a one in five chance of working, depending on whether it was viral or bacterial. She also said that an anaesthetic throat spray which I got from Boots was safe - it's brilliant and completely numbs my throat.

Just make sure you rest a lot and drink plenty. Hope you feel better soon.

xx
