Has anyone else been signed off work?

Hi

Just wondered if anyone sles has been signed off work by their GP? My doc told me to had bed rest last week after some brown spotting and told me just to self-certify and come back and see him today. So went to him this morning, told him I'd had no more spotting but severe morning sickness and he said right that's you off work for 2 weeks. I tried to re-negotiate to 1 week and then re-assess and was told that he's the doc and he knows best! I just feel so bad leaving work in the lurch for another 2 weeks - I'm part of a small team and work shifts, so all my colleagues will have to try and cover my shifts! I won't be popular when I go back - and to make matters worse they are probably thinking that I am just trying to get out of working christmas! I'm only 7+3 weeks and have had 2 previous miscarriages so I know I need to give this baby the best chance, but I am so bored at home - OH won't let me do anything!

I've been signed off also - I also had to negotiate a weeks leave. I'm so bored as I can't do anything, at least work keeps my mind off the sickness!!! I've been signed off as a result of MS - I can't keep anything I down. I'm miserable, but grateful in a funny sort of way

I know what you mean - I am so glad the MS has really kicked in - GP reassured me that MS is a good sign - never really got it with the last 2 pregnancies. So just keeping fingers crossed this one will stick.

Someone told me to do some knitting whilst off work - nice and relaxing apparently... but I don't know how to knit!

Hey Hun I was signed off at 8 weeks - Doc tried to make me take two, but I insisted on one and see how i felt after the tablets.

Fortunately the tablets worked and my sickness subsided somewhat! Although im still sick some days.

Do you team know you are pregnant? Mine did which made it easier, but I still felt bad.
On the other hand I was happy to have the time off to for sleep and rest. Baby is more important! xxx
Take care hope you feel a bit better soon xx

My team don't know I am pregnant, don't want to say yet given I miscarried in Sept at 6+2 - although I am trying to be positive and hoping all will be well this time. But you're right - my bubba is much more important than work/the team!

Try not to feel guilty Smidgen and just enjoy the break from work!

I've been suffering from awful nausea and exhaustion for the past few weeks. I'm lucky in that I work from home, but most days all I can do is check my emails in the morning. I've told most of my clients that I've had a bad flu bug...my problem is that I just have absolutely no motivation / energy. Soooo glad it's coming up to the Christmas break - think I may just sleep right through it!

The only reason I told my team was because its so small (4 ppl) and I have suffered 5 previous losses, so I knew I would have more appointments than usual. Good Job i did tell them because I have been signed off sick, had 3 scan, 4 specialist appointments and 2 heart consultant appointments so far.. got another 5 appointments in the next 10 days too lol!

Not complaining though that the NHS are finally looking after me!!

Just rest and let all the comments or negativity from your team go over your head. Dont worry about them and justlook after yourself!!

Take care xxx
