im not certain but i thought you had to be with your employer at least 3 months before falling pregnant but i could be totally wrong....as for maternity leave i think you can take it any time after 20 weeks, it all depends on personal choices, health n things like that, im hoping i can work straight up n have more time off with the baby lol dont take this as fact though this is just what ive been told from my employer, it may differ from company to company xx

depends on what country you're in? With DD I was pretty much pregnant the week I arrived at work, and still got maternity leave.

Hey hun, i think you will have to speak to you're employer as no one will be able to give you a direct answer as everywhere is different!
It completely depends on the rules that you're work has set down!
Best thing to do is ask that way you will find out for definate???
Good luck xx

Every company is different so you will have to check thier policy. Normally though, you have to have been there for 26 weeks by the 25th week of pregnancy to qualify for SMP. If you dont qualify, you can apply for Maternity Allowance (UK). See directgov website for more info about MA.

I am having the same problem as I started my new job on 26th November and baby due 31st May! I have been out of work since February due to health problems so won't be entitled to SMP (Statutory Maternity Pay) I will have to work until I am 38 weeks to qualify for MA (Maternity Allowance) which I really need otherwise I will have to go back to work after about 10 weeks which I really don't want to do

Here are the 2 links for SMP and MA. Hope they are useful. If not maybe try your local Citizens Advice Bureau?

It is very confusing though!!
