I've been bf for 2 years and 9 months now and have given up trying to give up as it is too traumatic! I too have a real booby monster but when you know it calms them down instantly it's hard to refuse. I've read that your milk changes at around 4 months pregnant and a lot of toddlers don't like the taste so maturally self wean, time will tell!!
I've had 3 mc and an ectopic over the last 12 months so I'm feeling a little nervous at the moment, I was worried that bf may have caused the mc but the Dr said it wouldn't so FX that this little bean sticks.
So glad to see there's a few of us. I'm going to get a book at my next LLL meeting about nursing while pregnant so i can read up on it. I hope the change in milk doesn't upset Alfie too much. He's got cold at the minute so he's not sleeping well at all, i'm like a walking zombie!!!!!

I think BF is the best parenting tool i have, if ANYTHING is bothering Alfie it settles him right away

I agree it's the absolute best patenting tool possible, it's the only thing that is guareenteed to calm down any situation but my LO definitely plays it to her advantage. I'd be interested to see what the LLL say about nursing while pregnant.

Hi Ladies how are you? Well i've started reading the Adventures in tandem feeding book which covers everything from feeding whilst pregnant and tandem feeding and its really really interesting. So far it says that from very early in pregnancy your milk changes taste then around 4 months the supply can start to dwindle as the body prepares for the new baby. It has some stats in aswell about how many toddlers are weaned or wean during pregnancy and from what i can see a lot of women choose to wean for one reason or another, mainly being nipple pain and the development of agitation whilst feeding your toddler which is very common, mid pregnancy seems to be the common time for onset of agitation.

It is really well written and highlights both the good and bad points. There are some absolutely gorgeous pics of mothers feeding both their toddler and baby and the toddler holding the babys head or hand, it just makes me melt

Let me know if you have any questions and i'll see if the book has the answer

Thanks for this Vicwick. I might buy that book myself!

Had my booking in appointment yesterday and the midwife was lovely but did express concern about the possibility of tandem feeding. She didn't go into detail - said she would ask the breastfeeding counsellor to contact me, but I think her main issue was the worry that if i tried to wean Poppy once the new baby arrived she may feel pushed out if the new baby is still allowed to feed but she isn't.

I am struggling a bit with the nipple pain at the moment - let's see what month 4 brings!

Hi Vicwick
Thanks for that last post, sounds like an interesting book. I'm kind of hoping my LO will natuarly wean herself if this pregnancy continues but I don't want to force her into it, she will be 3 in March tho so she's had a good long time on the boobie!
Looks like we are exactly at the same stage in our pregnancy, have you got any symptoms yet. I've just got a lot of twinges and little cramping pains going on just like AF is around the corner! Slightly tingling mama's too. I never thought I would be desperate for MS but it would make me feel happier about the pregnancy!

Hiya, yeah its really interesting i keep reading it every chance i get!!

I keep getting the horrible and scary crampy AF like pains which i hate cos it freaks me out. My boobies are ok so far touch wood but have been getting waves of sickness, not actually being sick but terrible nausea one day then nothing the next, this also makes me panic lol i'm a nervous wreck!!! I'm so glad i have Alfie to keep me busy or i'd be goin crazy haha Keep getting headaches too on and off. I know what you mean about the MS sounds silly but i feel so much better when i have it!!!!
