and now I'm scared

I started to spot on Dec 2nd when I was in the mall Christmas shopping and ran to the ER to be told I have a healthy fetus with a heart rate of 156 BPM but they were measuring small. Everyone seemed very bright and jovial and handed me the discharge sheets on "threatened miscarriage" only because they legally had to and never went over them with me. I was told no sex no lifting until cleared by my OB.

Spotting then went more red (deep pink) after having a transvaginal ultrasound, but the same consistency (IE: only showing when I wipe) and then by AM was light toffee colored.

By noon on Dec 3rd it was back to the barely red color (deep pink) then faded again to pink and by AM it was again almost nonexistent. By PM on the 4th (today) we're bright pink bordering that deep pink color again. But we're the same consistency and only showing when I wipe after urinating (or before if I'm checking to see if it's there). Not on my undies and has not effected the pad I've worn. No real cramps, just feeling a bit uncomfortable and I think that's only because I'm sensitive and aware to the fact of EVERYTHING that's going on down there because I'm worried.

OB has me scheduled as his first appointment on Monday morning at 9 for an internal exam and a better ultrasound since *I* wanted to change my appointment from the 14th because I was still spotting and concerned.

I know that them finding a heartbeat was a MAJOR reassurance but I'm still concerned because of the continued spotting. I've placed myself on rest where I'm either laying down in bed or laying down on the couch watching TV. I'm not lifting. I'm avoiding just about everything that could even remotely be considered strenuous. But yeah... I just want this spotting to STOP. I had a break down yesterday and just cried with OH and he's trying to be reassuring. everyone is including my OB who's said "I see a lot of this and if you're not soaking a sanitary pad in an hour or anything like that then don't work yourself up. If you start that then go back to the ER."

So upset though... So so upset.

Aw hunny big I know it can be so scary spotting and bleeding and such. It's a hugely positive thing that you have heard a heartbeat. Sometimes I wish that we could just have a magic 8 ball that would give us ALL the answers. Try and stay positive, I know it's hard to do but I will send you some positive energy and hopefully that will help. You are doing everything you can

Wish I could say something to ease your mind hun. I think we all know rationally that things are likely to be absolutely fine, but as no one can confirm it until monday it's understandable you're going to think the worst.

The fact you've heard a heartbeat is a hugely positive thing and shows your baby is hanging on tight. You're also not having bad cramps and the doctors always say that you must have both signs before a mc is genuinely suspected. I'm sure there is a perfectly innocent reason for the spotting and do remember that many women experience this and have a healthy pregnancy and birth.

oh I know but I'm still absolutely worried and freaking out 100% if only because the spotting is still there. It's not getting any heavier by any means but I'm very very worried. I didn't hear the heart beat they tabulated it on the ultrasound and came back with that number but the ER doctor seemed very pleased. Monday morning will tell us for sure.

I have had spotting for 2 weeks now, sometimes quite a lot - mostly toffee-coloured but a few times more red. But ... just have to wait . I know how hard it is, believe me!

I notice you would have just been around 8 weeks when you started spotting, it could be breakthrough bleeding, you know when some women spot a bit around the time when they would have had their period?? Maybe that is what is happening to you. The same thing happened to me around 7w 3d, my cycles are short though, it lasted for about a week and stopped. Had a scan, all was fine, baby's growth was on track for where it should be. I won't tell you not to worry cause I was sick with it, but try and remain calm, you may just be one of those women who have spotting for no apparant reason. xx

Pluto: LOL! Return of the Jedi. I love it. I definitely have my "triology" out as well as my Indiana Jones box set. We're having a PARTY.

Kissikiss: You're totally right. My mother was saying she had the same thing and the doctor made mention of it after I swas saying "my period would be due right around now". I DID wind up being called in for another scan last night and all was amazing. We measure 7wks+4 by another (IMHO she was a much more QUALIFIED tech being an OB herself) with a heart rate of 196 and bloodwork showed we've doubled our HCG levels again.

I do have another scan Tuesday but after passing clots yesterday I was relieved to see this ultrasound rather then being in the dark. Tuesday seems far off but I'm MUCH more relaxed and relieved. Baby's implanted right. Cervix is long and closed. I'm pleased. Poppy Seed seems to be here to stay.

I love you girls. You make me feel MUCH better too.
