Advice needed - I fell this morning.

Hey ladies,

Thank you all for always being so helpful, I am waiting on NHS direct to call me back, which apparently could be within 6 hours so I am hoping someone else might be able to help my paranoia!

I have a 12 stone dog who this morning pulled me over, he got barked at by another dog and then he ran to chase it and pulled me over. I fell onto my side and really took the brunt of it on my upper thigh.

Anyway, today is now the first day that I dont have any nausea. I am sure I am panicking about nothing but it just makes me worried that I fell at 8am and then usually around lunchtime I start to feel really awful but I havent!

NHS direct said a nurse would call me within 6 hours so here's hoping they have something reassuring to tell me

xxx

My hubby works for NHS Direct and says you will probably be advised to contact your GP or midwife just as a precaution. They are not really able to offer you much help over the phone for something like this, especially if you don't have any new symptoms since the incident happened.

Nausea is a result of hormones and if something bad had happened to baby, it would not disappear immediately. Please try not to worry hun.

Thank you! Ok that is really reassuring that my hormones won't be affected!

The guy I spoke too said a nurse would call me back within 6 hours, do you think I should call my GP in the meantime?

I dont have any symptoms, thats whats worrying me as I usually feel quite rubbish by now!

Thank you for your answer though, I feel far more reassured! xxx

Ooh, I just remembered something as well. My best friend came off her bike quite nastily during early pregnancy and felt an unpleasant pulling sensation in the area of her uterus. She was terrified she'd lose the baby, but now has a healthy 8 week old little girl.

yeah it is unlikely to affect symptoms this early on so try not to worry about that aspect. It must have been really upsetting though, i'm really sorry. My sil fell all the way down a flight of stairs at about 26 weeks and all is well with her. I would go straight to docs if i were you if you need some reassurance. Hope you feel better. xx

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to contact the GP or midwife yes. NHSD will almost certainly tell you to do the same thing in several hours and then you might not get a chance to see someone today.

I see you're around 8 weeks, my nausea has been on and off since about 7 weeks. Some days I'd swear it's vanished, others it's back with a vengeance. At this time, the placenta is starting to take over from the yolk sac, so your symptoms may be all over the place from day to day until the end of the first trimester.

Thank you girls, I think I will call my GP, just so they are aware.

And that is really interesting to know about the placenta and the yolk sac, on MOnday I had the worst day I have had so far, I was nearly crying at my desk due to the fatigue, I have no idea how I drove home!!

But yesterday I felt a lot better and then even more so today. Fingers crossed all is well, thank you! xxx

Don't worry, I'm sure the nausea will raise its ugly head plenty more times before the end of 1st tri.

Do let us know what the doctor says. I'm sure baby is fine.

yeah i would have been a wreck if it was me! She is fine though and now coming up to due day. That was my sister in law, my sister also got punched in the stomach in early pregnancy - not nice but she was also fine and has an amazingly gorgeous 2 year old now! She went into docs straight after who reassured her and offered tests etc. if things didn't seem right over subsequent days. x
