| Nuchal Scan Hi Ladies,
I just wandered if anyone knows what the latest date is that a nuchal scan can be done? i thought it was suppose to be between 11-13 weeks (in the uk)?
I was under the impression that if it is done later than 13 weeks it can provide misleading results because the amount of fluid seen at the back of the babys neck can increase from 13 weeks onwards?!
Im just alittle worried because im 11 weeks tomorrow and still have no scan date! ( i have already had 2 scans due to problems but was told i will still have one around 12 wks!
I would be grateful for any information!!!

I'm Currently Feeling: | Generally you dont get a nuchal scan on the NHS - have you checked? Your 12 week scan is not a nuchal scan.
The nuchal scan can be done up to 13wks 6 days and the bloods can be taken from 10 weeks. I've booked mine for 12 weeks when I get back from Easter hols. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I thought it had to be completed by 13 weeks as well, but am not positive as I turned the triple testing down myself. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | It's not routine in the UK yet due to costs.

If your midwife mentioned it to you, I'd double check whether or not you're going to get it before you fork out to go privately. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I am scheduled to have mine on the last of the month. Here in the US, it is standard for women 35 or older. My dr. said it needs to be done between weeks 11 and 13. | | | | Status: Offline

| I am thinking now that i wont be having this scan, although it was mentioned to me by my midwife i am under 35, so maybe the rule is the same here.
I think my local hospital do do this but not to every pregnant woman!
My risks of having a downs syndrome baby should be quite low as i am only 27 however it doesnt stop you worrying does it?! | | | | Status: Offline
