It is such a tough choice....why cant it be easy? I feel like its a catch 22.

If I dont get it, theres a chance Ill be ill with swine flu if I catch it, but If I do get it, that too could be harmful and even fatal.

I got my lletter about it the other day and Im still unsure. Also the baby will be protected once its born as you cant get it vaccinated for at least 6 months after its born.

Hope you come to a decision thats best for you x x

The swine flu vaccine is NOT live - and is a variant of the flu vaccine which is tested and which is altered every year to suit the changing flu virus. I just want to clear up facts, so everyone can make an informed decision.

I was 12 weeks exactly when I had mine. I don't think there are any guidelines in the UK. I wasn't sure before I had mine - but I went along to the appointment so that I could discuss it with the GP and nurse. Maybe this is a good idea - you can still decide not to have it at the appointment if that's what you want to do.

Im due to have it next week and decided not to have it until im in 2nd tri. My docs are not doing any more clinics for it after next week so I wont be able to have it. I either have it next week or not at all, which I think is unreasonable really but thats the NHS for you.

I've said this in a lot of posts...I really think either route you choose you and the baby will be fine, you just have to do what you're comfortable with. I had my vaccine before I got pregnant, but I would have gotten it even if I was.

SOME vaccinations are not recommended for pregnant women. The flu shot is not one of those. It is not "new", no one is a guinea pig for this...it's the same flu shot as always but a different strain is targeted...just like every other year. People believe what they want to believe whether it's true or not.

You need to just do what is right for you and trust your gut!

Has everyone been offered it? Not sure if I want it or not, but I am slightly concerned that I have not even been offered? Did most people get a letter or is it mentioned at a standard appointment?

I had my scan at 10+5 and was offered the jab. I took it that day as I am a Primary School Teacher and we have already had 2 cases of swine flu (in Sept) before I found out I was pregnant. I would worry if there was another case in school. I have felt fine since, no side-effects except for the sore arm.

You have to make a choice for yourself, don't let others sway you either way. We are adults and capable of making this important choice.

I notice that the people with the strongest opinions are those that aren't having it. I think that it is unfair of them to make people who have chosen to have the jab, feel bad about it. I know people who aren't getting it and they talk so insensitively about it infront of me. I don't make them feel bad for not having it, yet they feel quite happy judging me. I did what I thought was best for my baby and I. That is all that any of us can do.
