HCG levels - Reassurance scan x x x

Hi all, a few things,

Going to the midwife on Thursday to have HCG levels checked, as i have had two miscarriages and as i got my BFP 8 days befor AF was due!!???!

Hospital has said i can have a reassurance scan next week if i would like one but will not get my 12 week scan, i think if my levels come back ok and have them done again 48 hours after this will reassure me (if they are ok) so i would like to hold out for my 12 week scan. I want this pregnancy to go smoothly and would like to see my baby at a good size at 12 weeks, looking like a 'baby' - if that makes sense??

Any thoughts on any of this?? Particularly the HCG level test in reguard to the BFP 8 days before AF being due???

Hope everyone is well x x x

People ovulate at weird times of the month sometimes. If you weren't following it then maybe you ovulated early? I got my BFP 3 days early and I know I ovulated a few days late. I guess peoples bodies build up HCG at faster/slower times than others. Good luck!

I got my BFP 5 days before AF was 'due' but I think I O'd early on that cycle hence the 'early' BFP.

I had an scan early as I was having some severe pain while away on holiday. I was only 5 weeks and you couldnt see anything except the yolk sac. They also did my HCG levels which came back great. I had a 'follow up' scan at 7 wks + 2 and we saw the heartbeat which was reassuring but I wont get the 12 week one now either. I've decided to have the nuchal scan with me being 34 this yr but obv I have to pay £200. That will be at just over 12 weeks so I feel like I'm getting more reassurance at the same time as I'm not having the 12 week dating scan. I've also booked a further reassurance/3D scan at 16 weeks - again thats going to cost.
It you arent planning on having a nuchal scan I'd try to wait because I found the HCG levels are very reassuring - just make sure you get them to do them twice or you wont have an idea if they are rising nicely. If you dont mind paying then go for it and book a private scan for about 12 weeks then you'll have all the reassurance possible.

I dont have any pain or anything and no bleeding so i feel ok-ish, think having a couple of blood test to check the HCG levels will reassure me nicely until 12 weeks, by the time i have my 1st one on thursday and will probably have another one on saturday so i should see a nice jump in the levels!!! and i will be 6 1/2 weeks by then so it will only be a few more weeks till my scan anyway x x x

Good luck with your HCG results I think as long as they are doubling properly you shouldn't have any worries.

Well i went to see the midwife this morning and they decided not to test my levels as they would probably be misleading!! So not i have to decide if i want to have a 7 week scan or a 12 week scan!!!

Tough one! If you can afford to pay for a private scan later then go for it if you feel that it'll help you relax - I know I have since mine. I'm having a private nuchal scan with me being a little older so that will satisfy my 12 week 'urge' then a 16week 3D scan.
If you can fork out for a privat scan (they can be between £100 and £200) then wait it out. You cant see much at 7 weeks - although seeing the HB is very reassuring.
