i also had to wait to get my hand one done. I was expressing milk and i didn't want to take the risks. Who cares if someone did it and was fine during pregnancy? Everyone is different and what worked for someone may not work for another.

Considering the bottle of PALMERS COCOA BUTTER that I have and use daily says "test a small area for reaction as hormones in pregnancy can cause elevated skin sensitivity and lead to a severe reaction" I'm going to have to say a tattoo is a HUGE no no. I have a tattoo of a horse on the back of my left shoulder and I love tattoos and want a new one pretty badly but I'm waiting it out until I'm not pregnant. The risk isn't worth the ink. Honestly. I love my baby more then I love skin art.

I got tattooed when I was pregnant but before I actually knew I was pregnant. The main reason a shop won't tattoo you during pregnancy is because of your shifting blood pressure and hormone levels which could lead to fainting.

hey hun, its not at all safe to get a tattoo because 1. you can get a disease(i know u said u know hes clean) 2. its opening the skin and can cause a bad infection that will put you and your baby at risk and 3. no tattoo shop will tat on a pregnant lady and whoever you know that does them shouldnt either.
i have tattoos myself and i love to get them but its kinda like some1 who smokes they usually stop when they get pregnant no matter how hard it is, its for the baby. so in my oppinion i dont think getting a little ink on you is worth the chance no matter how big or how small the chance of a disease or infection is

Have you tried calling NHS direct and asking them? If it's unsafe, I would risk it, why not get a temporary one?

I've had a tattoo while pregnant before.

The ONLY reason they now suggest not to is incase the place you go to isn't clean you get an infection or hepatitis or even HIV.
The place I went to was a trusted friend and his shop is 100% clean.

When I had my tattoo I didn't know I was pregnant and I was actually getting my eldest sons name tattoo'd on me.

Since the risks involved have NOTHING to do with the tattoo or ink used and the risk is only infections or diseases caused by dirty tattooist then it is your call.

If I knew I was pregnant at the time of my tattoo as much as I trust our friend I don't think I would have had it done till after bub was born. JMO

Thanks for some of your opinions ladies.
I don't need to be patronised though, did I say that I was going to get a tattoo done? No. I said I had the opportunity to, and I knew it was going to be a no anyway!
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience on this or not.

I don't want to annoy anyone, Im just having a bad day and im fed up of being treated like a stupid kid!
