All the midwives, books, studies, doctors, etc all say...if pregnant or TTC...DO NOT SMOKE AND DO NOT DRINK. It is from health care professionals that we know both of these things halm the child....

Why be so ignorant as to ignore their qaulifed professional advice?

Everyones entitled to an opinion.
Think back to the 'olden days', where women had no bloody clue what was going on in their bodies, no scans, no nothing.

They also believed that pregnant women should never go to funerals, or lie in a certain way on a bed, or wear a necklace because it means the baby will be born with the cord around it's neck!!

Take some things with a pinch of salt, the NHS are always going to cover their own arses.

"Why has this happened because you told me it was okay to drink during pregnancy?"
In this day and age, everyone wants to cover their own backs.

Im going off topic a bit I know!

Anyway, im going to go get a large mc donalds meal, a bottle of vodka, a packet of 20, some brie, some swordfish, paté, sushi, anything that my heart feels contented on!

Clearly I am joking, and trying to make light of the conversation...!!

I am very sorry to hear about your loss...you baby is beautiful.

The recomended alcohol intake as been mentioned is 1-2 units per week. I dont think in 9 months every woman on here who has posted is 'fighting' for thier right to drink this amount per week.

I was married at 30 weeks pregant and had a glass of champange to toast...my son is perfectly healthy after this one yes ONE alcoholic drink after 9 months and yes alcohol tasted pretty shocking anyway!

I dont think people do not care about your loss at all, that is most definately not the case, i do not feel there is one mum to be on here who would say that wether they have expericened such a terrible loss or not but 1 -2 units a week or as most people are saying, and as i intend to also, are speaking about 1 - 2 drinks over the WHOLE Xmas period.

I actually think being preached too like this (not just from yourself smurf) is scare mongering, yes, if you drink to excess it will damage your unborn child we all know that...we are not talking about getting together for buy 1 get 1 free vodka red bulls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not that nobody cares at all.
I have never been in your shoes, and I can't imagine what it was like. Maybe my opinion on this would change if I was? I know this is obviously a very touchy subject, as so many of us in this forum have suffered from losses.

I have suffered a miscarriage, and for somebody to come out with, I have no sympathy for mothers who drink and then lose their baby, makes me very angry.
Miscarriages happen for a reason, mothers fault or not.
I shouldn't be made to feel guilty because I want a WHITE WINE SPRITZER at christmas.

Everyone has their own opinions and rights. Just be glad im not shooting up in the corner, or drinking copious amounts of shots, as we speak.
There are much worse things people could be doing!

like you say, you have cut down! what if women who drink have simply cut down! that is their choice.
people can't dictate what others do, christ could you imagine if we all lived life like that.
open your eyes and look around, there are people out there doing WORSE things to their bodies, with or without pregnancy.

have a glass of wine isn't going to kill you - and most probably won't harm the baby. i have suffered a mc, and i did everything by the book? am i to blame myself for the miscarraige? because i MUST have done something wrong? if i have a glass of wine at christmas, you have no sympathy for me, because i drank?

no people cannot dictate wat others do..... i am a smoker i cut down during pregnancy... so yes i still smoked with lilly my 1st... and i am still smoking with my bump no2..... i do feel that my actions now controdict my action after birth as i will not be smoking around my child as i dont smoke around lilly but unfortunatley i find it very stressing trying to stop.... and to be quite honest i would rather smoke a few a day and keep my stress levels low then stress my head off trying to quit an addiction.... an before you say i should of thought of this before TTC .....i didnt TTC i was on the pill shit happens eh was obviously the way it was meant to be

dont feel upset fellow 1st tri's im not judging any1 and i dont suspect many others on BNB are either

hope all have a happy healthy 9 months xxxxxxxxxxx
