i posted what i was feeling. as i said

1 -2 glasses of wine is ok when ur in the first trimester BUT as of 12-13 weeks the baby gets feed through the placenta so what you eat and drink affects the baby

me eating half a pack of jollie ranchers isnt going to hurt the baby when thats 3% of what i eat the rest of the day

im done with this topic i wrote what i felt i needed to say and im glad we got to discuss it.

May everyone pregnancy go will and get through the most important time of our lifes.

They sound very much like fetal alcohol syndrome symptoms, and not symptoms from simply having 1 or 2 units of alcohol once in a while, infact many websites say you can have one or two units, once or twice a week! There is no scientific study to show that alcohol IN SMALL AMOUNTS, is damaging to a foetus. Nobody knows what alcohol actually does to a developing baby, but obviously it is common sense.

Im not going to go out and get absolultely floored whilst pregnant, because im simply not that stupid.

Everything in moderation!

I know smoking is apparently hard to give up, but it?s harder having a newborn hooked up to machine because of trouble breathing. This happened to a friend of mine, her baby was 6 weeks early with awful lung problems because she wouldn't give up her 5 a day habit.
I know it's hard, but it's only 9 months, surely it's worth the hardship of stopping.

A glass of wine isn't going to harm me because it's 3% of what I drink in a week?

Look I don't think anyone here wants to do their babies any harm, and I would guess that 99% of us aren't drinking anyway! However it's important that not just the bad is mentioned, and that we are all well informed, so of course drinking is best avoided, however this is from the NHS website also:

'If you choose to drink, protect your baby by not drinking more than one to two units of alcohol once or twice a week'

From the chat on the forum I would guess this is way beyond what anyone was thinking of consuming, I think we are talking about 1 drink, if that at xmas etc which would be well below the above guidelines from the NHS

Ladies, come on, lets get back to being buddies, all this is not doing anyone or their beans any good, this conversation is leading no where good xxxx

I'm sorry i don't mean to be rude but all you're doing is trying to force you're opinion onto others and not everyone thinks the same way! They just don't.
This world would be a very dull place if we all thought and acted the same way????
Can we just drop this thread and get it locked????

Please let us drop this and carry on supporting each other as that is what this site is entended for??????????? xx

i completely agree with you! do people love alcohol so much that they feel the need 2 drink while pregnant?? its not a hard thing to give up! and EVERYTHING you consume travels to your baby!! dont care if people criticise my post every1 is entitled to an open opinion!!

I just don't see the point of drinking. If you have a problem with alcohol, I understand you need to seek help and therefor find it harder to stop, the same with smoking. But where is the positive side on having one glass on christmas eve if it might harm the baby? Is nine months too long to just give it a miss? In the end each one knows what they're doing, but I myself really enjoy a glass of wine but will have apple juice instead because I really don't see the point on maybe hurting my baby for one glass of wine... I have plenty of time ahead.

Please nobody get me wrong, do as you like and it's not my place to say you're wrong because maybe I'm doing something wrong without knowing. I'm just asking where the point is on having a glass of alcohol and saying I'm swaping it for something else.
