I do agree with what you're saying here. I have a friend that did drink while she was pregnant, she wasn't bothered about the risks, but then had a huge rant at another friend for smoking one cigarette when pregnant!
Frankly, pregnant women should respect the life they've created.

I know some women go through some truly horrific things and i wouldn't wish that on anyone, but some people don't do the simple things like not drinking and smoking.

To be honest, i'm not sure how anyone could disagree with some things you've said.
I'm not saying a glass of wine every now and then is a crime, but it's when it gets to 3, 4 or 5 glasses a night, then something is wrong.
Just to add, i have never drank any alcohol at all so i wouldn't in pregnancy.

I work with drug and alcohol users and I think the annoying thing is actually that it tends to be people like myself who sticks to the rules who end up miscarrying and they seem to do what the he'll they like and end up with health babs! It's not fair and I do think many women do try their very best to stick to the rules! However there is also lots of conlicting advice out there! I think my motto is that I will stick to all the rules as best as I can (which means no Brie and pate this Xmas-sob!) but if I slip up by accident them I can't beat myself up about it as I also owe it to my buns not to get completely stressed out too!

Wishing everyone a happy and health pregnancy!!

I dont disagree with the odd glass of wine, or for me white wine spritzer. They say abit of anything DOESNT hurt. Consistant drinking IS wrong during pregnancy, no matter how far gone you are! I had a half a glass of champagne for my wedding at 13 weeks, and plan to have a white wine spritzer at xmas, so what, its hardly going to do anything is it! I dont agree with smoking/drinking in pregnancy but i hold my hand up to those who do their best to quit smoking and cut right down on drinking because its not easy! I can say that because im 19 years old and was used to going out most weekends, partying and boozing away! I didnt smoke but i can imagine how hard it is for people to give up something they've been doing for so long, and SURELY cutting down is better than what they was doing before, in that i mean going from 20 fags a day to 5/10. Its STILL trying!! You cant come on here and post just because you dont smoke or drink, we're all entitled to do what we want, it may be wrong but its each to our own at the end of the day!!!!

I never ever said that! i said why drink then wonder why you lost the baby and im not just saying one drink but other women on bnb have said the had 3 or pints smoked why do it!!! theres other things to drink!!
Apologies..... I interpreted your post incorrectly!

And it's not like I completely disagree with you - I have given up a 20 a day habit (that's cigs not drinks!!) and have had one glass of wine since I found out! You get a slightly different perspective when you see heavily pregnant women who have just been shooting up heroin in the bogs!

agreeksmom we are all trying to be careful. I have also given up a 20 a day habit like beadette and that's fags not drinks lol.
At the end of the day if you have done something for a long time it is very hard to stop, we all want a healthy pregnancy but you cannot judge others for what they do just because you don't do it. I have not had a single drink since i found out i was preggo and it did take me a while to give up but i did it eventually! we are all trying!!!! and if i was to listen to every wife's tale that is out there then i would be surviving on only water right now lol. xx

yes but if you lose a baby you will alway wonder i didnt drink i stuck by the book and still lost him

goverment says not to drink at all but say if your going to min of 1-2 units per week but they advise against it

to me its not worth the risk any of it so why do it, there are a lot of people ttc who are smoking and then find it hard or impossible to quit once they have there bfp its not fair that people can do all this and still keep their baby and i lose my baby for no reason that he was in complete distress when he died and i was there with my baby dead in side me and people heavily pregnant in labour going out for a smoke
