Dealing with Strain and Stress

Hi there, anyone knows how to deal with strain and stress at work while pregnant? My work requires me to move about a lot and even though I've told my manager that I am pregnant, she still keeps giving me lots of work knowing that I will not say 'no' to her. Recently I start to feel pain around my belly but the MW told me it was just the ligament stretching. But I know I have more pain when I am stressing. Some of my colleagues are very helpful trying to keep me from over doing but they have their own workload to do as well. I have to learn to keep myself calm but I'm lousy with it. Sorry if this question sounds rediculous.

Goodness me, bosses seem to have gone mad giving pg ladies extra work like as if they were in a normal situation!! Maybe your boss counts on you being available 24/7 and you should let her know it's just too much! Is there any way you can refuse without getting into trouble? Legally? If worst comes to worst the law has the last word, they can't force you to work more if it's not in your contract.xxx

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with boss issues too! I'm probably not the best person to give advice in this situation cause I don't think I'll be dealing with mine properly, lol.

The big difference is that my work is not physical and does not provide physical strain. If you are straining physically and worried it is affecting you maybe you can have a chat with her to let her know what your worries are. No matter what they cannot discriminate against because you are pregnant and cannot handle as much strain as others.

Best of luck!

Miravil - have a look http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/...es/DG_10026556
You have more rights when you are pregnant and working and your boss has more responsibilities to ensure your work environment is safe for you

Take no rubbish. You and your baby are more important than work. You need to have risk assessments etc to sort out a suited working environment. The law is on your side when you are pregnant, and if an employer fails on their duty of care, they are looking at serious trouble. I am a public servant and union rep, so I know only too well that pregnant women are legally fireproof!!!! Make sure you utilise your rights fully, and take no s*** from any employer. Any employer who tries to avoid their duty, is really holding a gun to their own head!!!!

Thank you ladies, you have made me realised that I can tell my manager off without feeling guilty as I need to protect my baby too. Thanks Mizze for the website, it certainly helps especially the risk assessment part. Obviously my manager has either not dealt with pregnant subordinates before or forgotten to read through the risk assessment for pregnant employees.
