is it safe to lose weight during pregnancy?

i'm planning on eating more healthy food in my diet and doing some gentle exercise but this may mean i lose some weight. would that be ok or would that harm the baby? i don't plan on restricting my food, just eating a lot healthier. i'm beginning to feel a little bit podgey lol

Not sure but I know they say to eat healthy and donīt diet so I guess itīs okay if youīre not "trying" to lose weight. I should imagine gentle exercise would be okay, like swimming x

im wondering exactly the same! I have been eating anything and everything in sight over the past couple of months and seemed to pile on the pounds!!! lol. Now Im wondering if I start to eat healthily (not starve myself) and do some gentle excecise will I lose weight and is this ok?
I just want to be more in shape for when the time comes for the baby.

i can't see there would be any harm in eating right and walking and swimming. if i lose weight it would only be from exercise and not from lack of food/nutrients.

My midwife told me to healthy eat and do gentle exercise and not overdo it.. as long as you're careful and don't actually diet, you should be ok

I think it's fine to change your diet to a more healthy one but obviously not to have less food in a day than you need. Also agreeing with the others gentle exercise is fine.

Cant see it doing any harm aslong as you dont cut the amount of food you eat, can only be good for baby.

My OH has just taken my sweets off me and came back with the fruit bowl!
He promptly gave me a and the sweets back! So i've just had a banana!
Considering i've lost 7lb eating the same if not more, I think he has a cheek!

YES it is safe, as long as you are eating small healthy meals and taking your vitamins baby will get what it needs.
