| I believe that NT's are done by request (ie: private clinics) unless there is some high risk factor... If you want one it has to be done before end of week 14.
EDIT: I just saw your age in your profile.... why would you want a NT scan? Risk at your age is very minimal.... unless like I said there is some other factor, like other family members with Down's. | | | | Status: Offline

| You don't sound silly at all. I will get the NT as routine, but don't have to have the combined blood tests if I don't want to. I'm based in the UK tho so that might not be much help to you. I would certainly mention that it has occured in the family before if you are worried | | | | Status: Offline

But yes you can mention that and see if they will do it as routine. Here in Italy it is not routine and I don't think it is in Australia either.... as for the rest of the world.... don't know. | | | | Status: Offline

| I was offered this at my appointment last time (for mid December). they also asked me if I wanted to do the CVS and Amnio. I passed on those, but said yes to the NT Scan. I guess each doctor is different. I would press the issue if it something you want or pay to have it done at a private office. I did a search and found a few private clinics around by my house. good luck!! | | | | Status: Offline

| They are offered in Australia as part of the whole thing, same as amnios and cvs, 11 years ago they wanted to do a anmio on me because I would be 30 when I gave birth. Definatley mention it to your doc and tell him you want one to put your mind at ease hun! | | | | Status: Offline

| in my area they don't do an nt scan as routine, just your dating scan & your anomoly scan. if you want an nt scan, it needs to be done privately.

| nt scan is done routinely in kent, england where i live, i cant understand why it is not done everywhere! we have a cousin with down syndrome but it did come into the equation for our nt result. if you feel strong enough you should definately ask like others have said. | | | | Status: Offline
