Fetal Doppler

Hi Ladies,

Anyone that has experience with a fetal doppler? I am thinking about getting one but not sure which one to get. Any advise is appreciated.

i am thinking about getting this one: http://www.clinicalguard.com/sonotra...n5e1o3t2ntu721

it's saying 3MHz is the best, has anyone got anything to say? it is a lot more expensive then other ones which seems to be only 2MHz and they saying it is harder to pick up heart beat with 2MHz unless u r overweight. Doesn't make sense to me... I am not overweight and I think it's too early for me to know if the baby lies deep or not.

Hi hun,
Can't comment on the sonotrax doppler as I don't have that one and it's not one I looked at when I was considering buying one. This is the one I have http://www.anawiz.com/acatalog/Hi_Be...er.html#aHBW01 and that's the actual place I bought it from they have a shop on Amazon. I first picked up my babys heartbeat with it at 10 weeks and 4 days. Yesterday I recorded my babys heartbeat on it at 14 weeks I posted it here What a great 1st day in 2nd tri!! if you'd like to listen. I think my doppler has a 2 mhz probe but I wouldn't say i was especially overweight, though i'm no stick insect either. There is a video on Youtube of a girl using this doppler at 12 weeks and 3 days and she is clearly NOT overweight. Lol works fine for her. That video is here

Not sure about the difference in probe sizes and being overweight etc only know this doppler works great for me. hope this helps with your decision hun any questions you think I can help with feel free to ask or pm me. Good luck x x x

I was intending to buy one of the hi-bebe dopplers, but borrowed a friend's Angelsounds one yesterday and found a heartbeat at only 8+2!

I might buy a more expensive one with a heartrate display at some point, but for now I'm very happy using this relatively cheap device.

thanks Pinkandpurple and MiissDior for your comments they were very useful!
Pinkandpurple, thanks for sharing your baby's heart beat! I would love to hear my baby's heart beat over the over because the first time I saw it at my 7 week ultrasound, it was the happiest moment of my entire life... thinking about it makes me cry!!!

My DH has not been very supportive with me getting a doppler he said i am not a sonographer and i am just going to panic if I can't find a heart beat! do u ladies find it very easy to find the heart beat? i think it would be hard to find but I don't think I will panic! He says I am being silly and there's no need so angry with him but it is a lot of money and i don't feel right just go and buy it... maybe i will talk to him a bit more...

if u ladies are happy with the 2MHz one, maybe i should just get one with 2MHz which is nearly half the price!

DH went out and got the Graco Bebe Sounds Prenatal Heart Listener... We thought we found something, but it's basically a stethoscope, so they don't recommend using it until third tri!! All reviews I've read say it's rubbish and some people NEVER find the heartbeat with it. =/

SO, I'm looking into getting an Angelsounds Doppler because I've read a LOT of good reviews for it...

There are also places that will rent out the really good dopplers for cheaper, so you can just try them out.

Tell your DH to bog off As long as you don't think you will panic, then it's fine... Use it for enjoyment rather than solely reassurance.

xx

thanks nightkd, i think what i will do is ask the OB during our 12 week appointment :-) if he recommends it, i will get it :-) i think doesn't matter what i say now he won't listen. he even says i got baby brain! i refuse to have baby brain and this is so not baby brain!
also from what i read, it is probably going to be hard to pick up anything now so i still have time :-)
