Anyone else struggling with waiting between 10 week and 20 week scan?

Hi all,

I am pregnant with our first baby and we saw the baby moving around for the first time on Friday 13th November! All was well and she said the pregnancy looked very healthy so we were over the moon.

The Saturday 14th I got struck down with a severe sickness and tummy bug and was violently sick for 72hours, didn't eat more than 2 peices of toast in 2 days but kept well hydrated.

I then had a massive row with my sister where my hormones kicked in and I completely lost it with her I was shaking and screaming I was that angry,

We now have to wait until 22nd January and my pregnancy systems (other than tiredness and raised temp) have totally disappeared this week, I am worried me being poorly and then getting so stressed out has done something to the baby, I feel like the next 8 weeks waiting for this appointment are going to be murder.

I see my midwife end of next week, do you think she will let me go for another scan or am I over reacting ?

X x

I wouldn't worry. Your symptoms have probably disappeared as you will soon be entering the second trimester - the one where we are supposed to be fab! MY symptoms all faded after 11 weeks, and I had my first scan on Wednesday and all was well. Your baby will always get what it needs from you, and the fact you kept yourself hydrated is good. Also, I don't think screaming and shouting will affect the little one...it's probably good that it is getting used to it...you will probably be doing it some more in the coming years (Don't touch...put it down....leave it alone...come here...etc etc!).

Hi

Symptoms come and go thru out pregnancy, so i wouldnt worry about that to much, im sure they will come back with avengence

Not sure where you are, but its very hard to get another scan here ( unless you pay to go private ) i had a MC in feb, and was sure id get a early scan this time round, but my MW said it was'nt needed, not less there was bleeding and clotting ( my first NHS scan was'nt till 15 weeks, no way was i wanting that long, so i had a private scan at 9 and 12 weeks )

Of course you should ask your MW to put your mind at rest and voice any concerns you have, after all that is what she is there for
